Senior Industrial Mechanic – Nonwoven & Extrusion Manufacturing Position Summary: We are seeking a highly experienced and technically skilled Senior Mechanic to oversee, maintain, and optimize mechanical systems in a high-volume industrial manufacturing facility specializing in nonwoven textiles and extrusion processes. This role demands deep expertise in troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and process improvement across complex machinery.
Key Responsibilities • Equipment Maintenance & Repair
• Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on nonwoven production lines and extrusion machinery.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Replace worn components, align systems, and calibrate equipment for optimal performance.
• Process Optimization
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to enhance machine efficiency and throughput.
• Recommend upgrades or retrofits to improve reliability and reduce energy consumption.
• Technical Leadership
• Mentor junior mechanics and technicians.
• Lead root cause analysis for recurring mechanical failures.
• Maintain detailed logs of maintenance activities and performance metrics.
• Safety & Compliance
• Ensure all work adheres to OSHA and company safety standards.
• Participate in audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
Required Skills & Experience • Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in industrial manufacturing, specifically with nonwoven fabric production and extrusion machinery .
• Strong knowledge of:
• Pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical drive systems.
• PLC-controlled equipment and automated production lines.
• Thermoplastic extrusion processes and die maintenance.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical schematics and technical manuals.
• Skilled in using diagnostic tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications • Technical certification or an associate degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Maintenance.
• Experience with brands like Dilo, Andritz, Autefa, Signal Machinery, Kusters, DSI Machinery or other in nonwoven setups.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles or TPM a plus.
