About The College/Unit/Department
The Department of Crop and Soil Sciences resides in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, which has teaching, research, and outreach programs at three campuses across the state: Athens, Griffin and Tifton. The department has teaching, research, and extension faculty at all three locations which conduct basic and applied research that is important to clientele in the state of Georgia and that adds to the body of knowledge basic to agricultural production and environmental management. The Department has faculty with expertise that can be grouped into three general areas: Cultivar Development, Genetics, and Biotechnology; Crop Management, Physiology, and Weed Management; and Environmental Sciences and Natural Resource Management.

Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity with stakeholder engagement.
• Familiarity with public speaking and professional writing.
• Strong knowledge of farm equipment.
• Strong knowledge of agronomic management.
Position Summary
This position includes both research and operational on-farm responsibilities in support of the University of Georgia’s Extension Grains program for field corn, soybean, small grains, cover crops, and soil fertility.
The Department of Crop & Soil Sciences at UGA offers a stimulating, multi-campus intellectual environment and has an excellent reputation in teaching, research and extension. • Project management
• Lead administrative and day-to-day research operations for the Extension Grains Program
• Manage agronomic production of row crops and cover crops.
Percentage of time 40 Duties/Responsibilities
• Coordinate, implement, and execute statewide applied research protocols supporting grain crop producers in Georgia including small-plot and on-farm field trials.
• Collaborate with the program leader to shape and refine research priorities based on stakeholder input and emerging issues.
• Participate actively in planning, execution, and evaluation of research and extension programs.
Percentage of time 30 Duties/Responsibilities
• Provide mechanical and technical expertise that will aid in implementing novel research experiments.
• Maintain equipment including repairs, modifications, and precise calibration.

• Analytics and Reporting: Track and analyze research data in coordination with program leader.
Percentage of time 5 Duties/Responsibilities
• Collaboration: Assist in mentoring and supervising student workers and graduate students
• Represent the Extension Grains Program at academic, professional, and stakeholder-focused events including field days, conferences, and extension meetings.
