The Welder Helper will assist welders and fabricators with daily shop operations by preparing materials, setting up equipment, and ensuring a safe and organized work environment. This is a hands-on support role designed to help the fabrication team work efficiently while providing the helper with opportunities to develop welding and fabrication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
•
Assist welders with positioning, holding, and aligning materials during fabrication and welding.
•
Prepare metal parts by cleaning, grinding, cutting, and fitting as directed.
•
Operate basic shop tools and equipment such as grinders, chop saws, and torches.
•
Set up, maintain, and store welding machines, tools, and supplies.
•
Perform fire watch and follow all shop safety procedures.
•
Measure and mark metal for cutting, drilling, and assembly.
•
Assist with moving raw materials, finished products, and heavy components using proper lifting techniques or shop equipment.
•
Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas.
•
Perform other duties as assigned to support welders and fabricators.
Requirements:
•
Ability to work safely in a fabrication shop environment.
•
Basic knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices.
•
Willingness to learn welding and fabrication skills.
•
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
