Front Desk Receptionist
Job Summary
We are seeking a full-time, professional, and detail-oriented Front Desk Receptionist to join our nephrology clinic. Candidates with prior experience in a medical office or a strong interest in healthcare are strongly encouraged to apply. As the first point of contact for patients and visitors, you will play a key role in creating a positive patient experience and ensuring smooth office operations. The ideal candidate will have exceptional customer service skills, a genuine interest in the healthcare field, eagerness to learn, and the ability to adapt to new systems quickly.
Responsibilities
• Greet and welcome patients and visitors in a warm, professional manner
• Answer, screen, and route incoming phone calls promptly and courteously
• Provide basic and accurate information in person, over the phone, and via email
• Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments using the EMR system
• Perform data entry, documentation, photocopying, and filing tasks accurately
• Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information at check-in
• Maintain a tidy, organized, and professional reception area
• Assist with various administrative tasks as needed, including scanning and faxing documents
• Support clinical staff by coordinating front desk duties with patient flow
• Engage with patients compassionately, demonstrating professionalism in a medical setting
Requirements
• Previous experience as a Front Desk Receptionist, medical office assistant, or in another healthcare-related role preferred
• Proficiency in computer applications including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); strong comfort with technology is required
• Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills, with the ability to remain professional under pressure
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively
• Eagerness to learn about medical office operations and grow within the healthcare field
• Ability to maintain confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
• Bilingual proficiency is a plus (Spanish preferred)
• Knowledge of medical receptionist duties such as insurance verification, copay collection, and appointment scheduling is an advantage
• Experience using the Epic EMR system is strongly preferred
