Position Summary
Provides strategic leadership, coordination, development, and implementation of the district's environmental sustainability program. This includes initiatives and the implementation of sustainable practices throughout the district. Develops environmental audits to measure and assist in strategies for the district's sustainability goals. This work also includes securing grants and philanthropic funding, along with monitoring and reporting on the district’s achievements.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
• Master’s degree preferred
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
• Background Check
• LEED and/or ISSP Certification
WORK EXPERIENCE:
• 3-5 years relevant work experience
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Technical knowledge: Proficiency in environmental regulations, compliance standards, and sustainability reporting frameworks and standards.
Analytical skills: Ability to interpret complex data sets related to energy consumption, waste management, and resource utilization to develop actionable strategies.
Project Management: Strong skills in planning, executing, and monitoring multiple sustainability initiatives while meeting deadlines and budget constraints.
Communication: Effective verbal and written skills for drafting reports, delivering presentations, and educating staff, students, and stakeholders about sustainable initiatives.
Interpersonal skills: Capability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and engage various stakeholders from school employees, staff, and community partners.
Problem Solving: Creative problem-solving abilities to address unique sustainability challenges and innovate sustainable solutions.
Required to perform multiple technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.

Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: construction trades, codes, and blue prints; business telephone etiquette; concepts of grammar, spelling, and punctuation; interviewing techniques and practices; job-related codes/laws/rules/regulations/policies; keyboarding; community resources; office equipment and technology; personnel administration practices; principles of negotiation/arbitration; recordkeeping and record retention practices; school safety and security practices.
Essential Duties
• Develops and oversees the implementation of the CCSD environmental sustainability program.
• Coordinates with appropriate parties the communication regarding the district’s efforts and progress of the sustainability program.
• Participates in committees and task force groups to learn, grow, and report on the progress of our
sustainability efforts.
• Develops the reporting metrics and parameters needed to ensure a successful program.
• Assists students/schools with presentations or discussions relating to sustainability in our schools.
• Develops constructive relationships with staff of external governmental agencies and municipalities to
assist in project approvals, permitting, and inspections; attends agency and municipal meetings, as
required.
• Applies technical expertise in the evaluation of contracts and other project documents, as required.
• Develops methodologies to continuously improve department efficiencies, including identifying lessons
learned and proposed guideline changes.
• Provides current, accurate, and professional reporting of projects’ status, as required, to inform
leadership; prepares other records and reports, as required, by local, state, and federal policies.
• Communicates with school system staff and the public to share information about the CCSD
environmental sustainability plan and its implementations.
• Directs volunteers who may assist in various projects associated with the sustainability plan.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor
