ERT SPECIALIST II (Emergency Response Team Specialist II)
JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Industrial ERT Specialist II assists the Industrial Fire Chief inoverseeing all aspects of fire safety and emergency response within a specific industrial facility, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and providing leadership to the fire department as directed.They are responsible for assisting in supporting the volunteer Emergency Response Team (ERT) personnel, developing and implementing policies, and overseeing all fire-related activities, including training, prevention, and suppression.The position is responsible for helping the Industrial Fire Chief in maintaining the fleet of mobile fire protection and emergency response equipment while ensuring all emergency response personnel are properly trained in its use. This position will conduct fire safety audits on the floor as directed.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE ERT SPECIALIST II (Emergency Response Team Specialist II)
• Conduct Annual Flood Response Plan Drills/Review with affect parties.
• Conduct Annual Training for Hot Work Safe Work Practices.
• Track all fire impairments and ensure timely closure of impairments.
• Assist in new hire training.
• Fire safety audits on the manufacturing floor as directed.
• Tracking fire protection system inspections and extinguisher inspections.
• Assisting in coordinating responses to fire and other emergencies, ensuring the safety of personnel and the public.
• Assist in creating and implementing policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Assist in coordinating all required training for the Reading Emergency Response Team to maintain competency in the event of an emergency.
• Working with other departments, agencies, and stakeholders to ensure effective emergency response and fire safety.
• Maintaining and entering accurate records of incidents in Benchmark gensuite.
• Maintain oversite of all fire protection system impairments, globally, through the FM Global Red Tag System.
• Assisting the Industrial Fire Chief in conducting fire investigations to determine cause and origin.
• Provide shared contractor orientation support and ISN duties at the Reading site.
• Support fire protection surveys and audits across the Reading & Shalmet Facilities to reduce risk.
• Assist in individual projects as deemed necessary by department management.
• Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.
REQUIRED FOR THE ERT SPECIALIST II (Emergency Response Team Specialist II)
• High School Diploma required. Bachelor's degree in Fire Science, Emergency Management, Public Safety, or related field (preferred).
• 5+ years of experience in industrial or municipal firefighting.
• Experience in high-risk industrial environments such as oil & gas, petrochemical, or heavy manufacturing strongly preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
• Deep knowledge of fire protection systems, industrial hazards, and emergency response protocols.
• Ability to work in high-stress situations and make critical decisions quickly.
• Proficiency in fire reporting software, MS Office, and emergency management tools.
• Ability to travel between company sites, as required.
• Occasional on-call availability during off-hours for emergency response.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
