Building Instructional Aide
Requirements for the Position
• A high school diploma
• The ability to work harmoniously with students and teachers
• Experience in organizational skills
• Knowledge of and/or experience with computers, preferred but not required
• The individual's credentials are in compliance with all federal and state laws and
regulations governing individuals functioning in the capacity of this position.
Major Responsibilities
• Direct student instruction
• Perform clerical duties as assigned
• Respond to teacher's needs for in-class and/or small group assistance
• Assist teacher in maintenance of program resources
Duties and Responsibilities
• Work with students as assigned.
• Assist with small group instruction as directed by the teachers.
• Utilize instructional materials, learning activities, and techniques as directed by the teacher.
• Work to develop rapport with students assigned and encourage the development of positive self-esteem.
• Using teaching techniques appropriate to meet the needs of the students as directed by the teacher.
• Assist in maintaining order in the classroom and discuss student discipline concerns directly with the attending teacher.
• Perform non-teaching/clerical duties as directed by the teacher and agreed to by the building principal.
• Perform non-teaching/clerical duties as directed by the administration.
• Assist with displays and bulletin boards.
• Participate in building level committees, building level programs, and district level workshops/inservice programs as assigned by the administration.
• Perform additional responsibilities as may be determined by the attending teachers as agreed to by the building principal.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the building principal.
