Description The City of Lynchburg’s Communications & Public Engagement Department is seeking a creative and motivated Graphic Design and Digital Engagement Intern with a strong interest in graphic design and visual storytelling. This internship provides a unique, hands-on learning experience for students exploring careers in graphic design, digital content creation, and media production within a local government setting.
This internship will focus heavily on graphic design and asset management responsibilities, with additional exposure to broadcast operations, event coverage, and branding. Interns will support both digital and print content development, assist with live event production, and shadow communications professionals in a dynamic, real-world environment.

Essential Duties ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties necessary to deliver services to customers and citizens may be assigned.
Graphic Design & Visual Content Creation
• Design a variety of materials including flyers, brochures, business cards, publications, advertisements, digital signage, and social media graphics
• Collaborate with department account managers and coordinators to produce branded content consistent with the City’s visual identity
• Contribute to the citywide rebranding initiative by supporting layout development, typography choices, and brand consistency
• Organize, categorize, and archive digital assets as a part of the migration from segmented storage to a centralized Digital Asset Manager
Digital & Broadcast Media Support
• Participate in setting up and running equipment for public meetings, press conferences, ribbon cuttings, and community events
• Capture B-roll and still photography
• Shadow the broadcast team to learn about robotic cameras, switchers, encoders, audio systems, and livestream platforms
Content Platforms & Tools
Gain hands-on experience with a variety of professional tools and platforms, including:
• Design : Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Express
• Video & Broadcast : Adobe Premiere, audio/video equipment, livestream systems
• Digital Platforms : Facebook, YouTube, Microsoft Teams, PowerPoint, Canto

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Must be a current college junior, senior, or graduate student
