The University of Lynchburg , a private, regional university in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Central Virginia, invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track position for a Principal Faculty, Assistant Professor/Associate Professor position within the School of Medicine and Health Sciences for the 2025 - 2026 academic year.
This is a residential position requiring the successful candidate to work on-campus.
The candidate for the Principal Faculty, Assistant/Associate Professor position within the School of Medicine and Health Sciences must be a motivated PA with a proven record of success. The PA Medicine program has received Accreditation-Continued from the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for PAs.

Essential Functions - Didactic/Clinical • Assists the Program Director in the organization, administration, continuous and periodic review, planning, development, and general effectiveness of the program
• Assists the DDE and DCE in the preparation of administrative reports as requested and assigned by the Program Director
• Assists in development, review, and revision of the mission statement
• Proficiency in bedside ultrasound
• Participates in the design, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of the curriculum
• Instruction in the Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) program (if applicable)
• Course Director for assigned courses
• Instruction in Medical Practice Series
• Problem-Based Learning facilitator
• Simulation instruction and curriculum design
• Teach or Co-teach Introduction to the Profession (if applicable)
• Physical Diagnosis series instructor
• Participate in Advanced Clinical Procedures course with skilled instruction
• Assists the DDE in the coordination and scheduling of all didactic courses and classes
• Assists Program Director in the organization, administration, continuous and periodic review, planning, development and general institutional effectiveness of the PA Program within the School of Medicine and Health Sciences
• Assists in the preparation of administrative reports as requested and assigned by the Program Director
• Reviews the Student Handbook annually
• Schedules and assists with student remediation as needed
• Assists in the interview and selection of faculty members
• Provides for the continuous review and update of all didactic course materials and learning objectives with committee responsibilities as assigned.
• Provides security for all course and examination materials
• Assists the DDE with the maintenance and coordination of the didactic schedule with the Administrative Coordinator
• Provides assistance with the ongoing assessment and review of the didactic curriculum each semester
• Reviews instruments for student and faculty course evaluations
• Assists in other duties as assigned by the Program Director and School leadership
• Attends all scheduled staff and faculty meetings
• Assists DDE with coordination and assessment of the function of all adjunct faculty
• Teaches courses with which he/she has demonstrated competence and/or experience
• Assists the DCE with coordination, site visits, and maintenance of clinical sites
• Assists the DCE with end of rotation exams and "Call Back" Days
• Primary faculty member responsible for the Master's Project
• Participate in precepting students during Community Clinic Series and during PA Medicine program primary care rotation
Essential Functions - Students • Provides and facilitates advising/academic counseling for students
• Reviews didactic/academic performance with students as needed
• Provides remediation for students with sub-standard performance as needed
• Advises the Program Director of any problems related to student behavior, academic performance, or professionalism
• Member of the assigned committees
• Upholds values and mission of the University of Lynchburg
Qualifications - Experience • NCCPA certified PA or Board certified allopathic or osteopathic physician
• Virginia PA license (or eligible) or MD / DO licensed or eligible for licensure in Virginia
• Master's degree in Health Related Field (a doctoral degree or willingness to enter and complete a doctoral program is preferred)
Preferred Qualifications - Experience • Greater than 3 years of clinical experience
• Experience teaching in a PA program or Medical School
• For PAs, doctoral degree or willingness to enter and complete a doctoral program
