**Job Title: Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) - 12-Hour Day Shift**
**Location:** Within 60 miles (Local candidates preferred)
**Job Description:**
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team for 12-hour day shift assignments. This position is ideal for RNs with a passion for providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced hospital environment. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a med-surg specialty, demonstrating strong clinical skills and a commitment to patient-centered care.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to patients in a medical-surgical unit.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Monitor and assess patient conditions and administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatments, and post-discharge care.
- Support and mentor nursing students and new hires, fostering a culture of learning and teamwork.
**Shift Details:**
- 12-hour day shifts with assignments ending on Saturdays.
- Orientation every other week on Mondays.
- Required to work 2-3 weekends per month based on unit needs.
- Limited RTO (Requests Time Off) must be included during the submission process.
**Qualifications:**
- Active VA or Compact Nursing License at the time of submission.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant specialty experience in medical-surgical nursing.
- Current BLS certification; ACLS certification preferred.
- Prior travel experience is required; experience in a teaching hospital or charge nurse experience is a plus.
- Certification in NIH Stroke Scale is preferred but not mandatory.
- Must be willing to float, as the needs of the unit arise.
**Additional Information:**
- The facility reserves the right to cancel assignments up to 36 hours in advance due to census changes.
- All requests for time off (RTO) must be submitted upon application.
