Preferred Qualifications Position Summary
Performs daily custodial work and performs manual work in a variety of janitorial and related housekeeping duties performed in and around Camp Jekyll buildings and facilities including the 4-H Tidelands Nature Center. This includes lodging spaces (cabins), teaching spaces, auditorium, dining hall, offices, and bathrooms. Primary responsibility is for the effective use of proper methods and materials in cleaning and caring for building areas. Individual works under limited supervision and work is checked for adherence to established practices and thoroughness. Duties will include but are not limited to emptying trash, using a backpack vacuum to clean bunk bed sleeping areas, sweeping floors and walkways, wiping down bathrooms and mattresses, cleaning mirrors, mopping floors, replacing light bulbs, moving office and lodging furniture and equipment, laundering linens, and other duties that support the overall operation of Camp Jekyll such as fueling vehicles. This position reports to the 4-H Support Services Manager and will assist with assigned light preventative maintenance tasks.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or Competencies
• Plan and organize routine work details, including receiving and carrying out inspections.
• Knowledge of a wide variety of cleaning methods, materials, and use and care of a variety of cleaning equipment.
• Make minor repairs and adjustments to building fixtures and equipment.
• Exercise care in the use of cleaning materials for different types of building surfaces.

Cleans lodging spaces including sweeps and mops floors, washes windows and mirrors, removes trash, sand and dirt. Frequently works from a ladder

Cleans laboratories including mirrors, countertops, floors, fixtures, sweeps and mops floors, replace paper products and refill soap dispensers, repairs shower curtains, and unstops lavatories and toilets.
Percentage of time 20 Duties/Responsibilities
Sweeps, mops, scrubs, buffs and seals floors, runs polishing machine and vacuum cleaner, washes walls, glass doors and classroom equipment, empties and washes trash cans and, replaces light bulbs.
Percentage of time 15 Duties/Responsibilities
Sweeps or uses back pack blower to clear outside walks. Empties trash in buildings and around campus. Reports damaged structures and equipment.
