The Rehab Aide supports physical therapists and other rehabilitation professionals in delivering high-quality care to patients recovering from surgery. This role involves preparing treatment areas, assisting with patient mobility, maintaining equipment, and ensuring a clean and organized therapy environment. The aide plays a crucial role in helping patients feel comfortable and safe throughout their rehabilitation experience.
Key Responsibilities: • Assist therapists in implementing treatment plans by guiding patients through exercises and mobility drills under supervision.
• Prepare and maintain treatment areas and equipment before and after therapy sessions.
• Transport patients to and from therapy sessions as needed, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
• Monitor patients during exercises and report any concerns to the supervising therapist.
• Clean and sanitize therapy equipment and surfaces in accordance with infection control protocols.
• Restock supplies and maintain inventory of therapy materials.
• Document patient activity logs or treatment data as directed by the therapist.
• Provide administrative support such as scheduling appointments and filing documentation.
• Communicate effectively with patients, staff, and families in a professional and compassionate manner.
• Adhere to HIPAA and patient privacy standards at all times.
Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior experience in a healthcare or rehabilitation setting preferred.
• Basic knowledge of human anatomy and medical terminology is a plus.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
• Physical ability to lift and assist patients and equipment (up to 50 lbs).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Working Conditions: • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
• May work with patients recovering from orthopedic or general surgery.
• Exposure to clinical environments including contact with bodily fluids (with proper PPE).
