Locums Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
We are seeking a Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide locum urgent care coverage in Lynchburg, VA. The ideal provider will deliver high-quality, compassionate care to patients of all ages, treating a wide range of non-emergent illnesses and injuries in a fast-paced clinical setting.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide episodic and urgent care to adolescent, adult, geriatric, and pediatric patients
• Diagnose and treat common illnesses and minor injuries
• Perform procedures such as wound care, splinting, and laceration repair
• Collaborate with clinical support staff and follow evidence-based practice guidelines
• Accurately document patient care in the electronic medical record
• Participate in a rotating weekend schedule
Clinical Setting
• Shift Schedule: Minimum of 3x12-hour shifts per week (including rotating weekends)
• Patient Population: All ages – Adolescent, Child, Adult, Geriatric
• Procedures: Injury treatment, episodic care
Requirements
• Board Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
• Active Virginia license (required)
• DEA (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum of 1–2 years of urgent care or emergency medicine experience preferred
• Comfortable working independently in a high-volume setting
