Terms of Employment: 180 day School Nutrition Employee. This postion will be based at Bedford Elementary School and serve the Liberty Zone.
Pay Grade: 105
Job Summary
The Zone Nutrition Worker will provide essential support by assisting with food preparation and meal service for students. This position requires the ability to work across multiple school sites within a designated zone of the district, adapting to varying daily needs and schedules.
Essential Duties
• Meal Preparation and Production: Prepare and cook food items according to planned menus and standardized recipes. Safely operate and maintain various commercial kitchen equipment.
• Service Line Setup and Stocking: Complete the daily setup of the school food service line, ensuring all menu items, materials, and supplies are readily available and properly displayed for service.
• Cashier Operations and Support: Accurately serve as a cashier for student and staff lunches. Provide technology support to students regarding cashier functions and clearly communicate account balances and available funds.
• Meal Service and Student Assistance: Serve meals to students in accordance with established menu guidelines and portion control standards. Inform students of various meal options and provide courteous assistance, particularly to those with special needs.
• Sanitation and Equipment Maintenance: Thoroughly clean and sanitize all kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces in compliance with local, state, and federal sanitation standards.
Required Knowledge And Skills
• Commercial Food Service Equipment: Demonstrated knowledge and ability to safely and effectively operate commercial food service equipment.
• Computer and Cash Register Proficiency: Proficient in operating computer systems and electronic cash registers for transaction processing.
• Adaptability to Multiple Kitchen Environments: Ability to adapt to and work effectively in different kitchen environments within the school district's designated zone.
• Effective Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills to interact professionally with coworkers, students, and school staff.
• Reliability and Punctuality: Proven ability to attend work regularly and report to duty in a timely and consistent manner.
• Other Duties as Assigned: Willingness to perform additional duties as required to support the overall efficiency of the school nutrition program.
Minimum Education And Experience Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent. ServSafe certification within the first 6 months of employment. Two to three years of school cafeteria experience or five years food service experience is preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
Physical Demands
Performs light to medium work that involves walking or standing and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or considerable skill, adeptness and speed in the use of the fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving close tolerances or limits of accuracy.
