American Indian Program-Education Specialist
The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Prince George’s County Department of Parks and Recreation, is currently seeking a part-time year-round Program-Education Specialist for our American Indian Program at Mt. Calvert Historic Park. This position is anticipated to begin in early summer.
The American Indian Program at Mt. Calvert is a new departmental initiative that will engage a complete re-interpretation of the park facilities and ground. The site will center on the American Indian experience and serve as the primary interpretation, exhibition, and program location to share the story of our Indigenous community in Prince George’s County. Day-to-day operations will include community outreach, open museum hours, facility management, public programs, school programming, research, interpretation, and implementation of the department’s overall vision.

The Program-Education Specialist supports day-to-day operations and the overall program vision through internal programs and external community partnerships. The candidate should demonstrate experience and possess a strong interest in community collaboration/engagement, public programming, and education and work well with a small team.
Candidates must be available between 20 and 30 hours a week. These hours will be scheduled over four days, including regular weekend hours.
