Medical Assistant
Job Summary
The Certified Medical Assistant will function in conjunction with a medical provider to assist in the provision of professional medical care and nursing support. Duties include performing as a member of the team and assisting in the administration and maintenance of an efficiently operated clinic. May be assigned to special projects such as primary care/mental health integration or to a satellite site. The Certified Medical Assistant must demonstrate a sincere dedication and loyalty to the mission, vision and core values of BRMC. Primary responsibility will be patient flow, including:
Responsibilities
• Greets and rooms patients ensuring two patient identifiers.
• Obtains vital signs, weight and height and any other pertinent data per center protocols.
• Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
• Assists in examination and treatment of patients. Performs necessary test(s) as directed by provider.
• Administers injections under the direction of a provider.
• Collects, labels, and prepares specimens for lab.
• Assists with nursing visits including but not limited to the following: blood pressure readings, medicine reviews, etc.
• Documents all patient care provided in the patients' electronic health record.
• Assists with routine maintenance activities including but not limited to the following: cleans equipment, stocks exam rooms, organizes clinical work area, etc.
• Adheres to standards and guidelines of Joint Commission, Patient Center Medical Home and Meaningful Use requirements.
• Participates in performance improvement activities in accordance with applicable standards.
• Performs other necessary duties as assigned by the Nurse Care Manager or Pod Supervisor to meet the goal of providing quality health care services.
