Production Expeditor
Position Summary
The Production Expeditor plays a key role in ensuring timely and efficient movement of materials, components, and finished goods throughout the manufacturing process. This position serves as the liaison between various departments—production, planning, purchasing, and shipping—to quickly resolve bottlenecks, expedite critical orders, and support smooth workflow on the production floor. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, and comfortable using ERP systems such as Microsoft D365 and Excel for data tracking and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and expedite production orders to ensure that scheduled work orders are progressing on time. Identify and resolve delays in the production process by working closely with supervisors, team leads, and planners.
- Troubleshoot disruptions such as missing components, capacity constraints, or machine downtime. Coordinate across departments to facilitate fast, practical solutions to keep orders on track.
- Act as a central point of contact for production regarding order status, priorities, and expedited requests.
- Utilize Microsoft Excel to review production and scheduling reports, identify trends, and help anticipate potential workflow disruptions.
- Coordinate with plant manager to prioritize orders and ensure alignment with customer needs, shipping deadlines, and internal capacity.
- Work with inventory control and purchasing to verify material availability and help expedite procurement or transfers when needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation of delays, resolutions, and actions taken. Recommend and assist in implementing process improvements to optimize production flow.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Prior experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Basic understanding of production workflows and supply chain operations.
- Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to filter, sort, and generate basic reports or dashboards.
-Ability to be on your feet for extended periods and move throughout the plant to address production issues, expedite materials, and coordinate with various departments.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to coordinate effectively across teams.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and respond quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving ability.
Shift: Monday-Friday 7 am- 3:30 pm
