Recruitment Number 206409 - The immediate vacancy is a Temporary, Full-Time position in Halawa to Kalihi area of Oahu.

Duties Summary
Collect, process, refine, and tabulate numerical data for statistical analysis; prepare statistical tables, charts, and graphs; and perform other related duties as assigned.
Note: Some positions may provide services covered by the Department of Justice Court Mandate.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Applicants must meet all the requirements for the position they are seeking as of the date of the application, unless otherwise specified. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience may not be gained concurrently. Your possession of the required amount of experience will not in itself be accepted as proof of qualification for the position. Overall paid or unpaid experience must be of such scope and responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that you have the ability to perform the duties of the position. Note: Your calculation of experience must be based on full-time, 40-hour work weeks. Part-time experience must be pro-rated. Example: Twelve months of experience at 20 hours/week is equivalent to six months of experience, not one year. Also, hours worked in excess of 40 hours/week will not be credited. Example: Twelve months of experience at 60 hours/week is equivalent to one year of experience, not one and a half years.
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:
General Clerical Experience: One year of responsible typing, stenographic, substantive clerical work, or any combination thereof which duties demonstrated knowledge of English grammar, spelling, arithmetic, common office appliances and equipment; and the ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, carry out procedures in clerical work systems, speak and write simply and directly, observe differences in copy and proofread words and numbers quickly and accurately.
Specialized Clerical Experience: One year of clerical work experience involving collecting, processing and tabulating numerical data which demonstrated knowledge of methods and techniques in obtaining measures of central tendency and variability, and techniques of graphic and tabular presentation of statistical data.
Substitutions Allowed
• Graduation from high school may be substituted for six months of General Clerical Experience.
• Successful completion of a substantially full-time equivalent clerical curriculum of a duration of a year or longer, leading to a degree or diploma at an accredited community college, or at a business or technical school which included courses in English, arithmetic, and general clerical procedures may be substituted for one year of General Clerical Experience.
• Successful completion of a substantially full-time equivalent clerical curriculum leading to a degree, diploma, or a certificate of achievement at an accredited community college, business school or technical school which was for a period of less than one year may be substituted for General Clerical Experience on a month-for-month basis provided the training included courses in English, arithmetic and general clerical procedures.
• Education in an accredited university in a baccalaureate program with courses in English and college mathematics may be substituted for General Clerical Experience on the basis of 15 semester hours for six months of General Clerical Experience.
• Successful completion of coursework in research and/or statistics in an accredited community college, business school, technical school, or university may be substituted for Specialized Clerical Experience on the basis of six semester hours of such coursework for one year of Specialized Clerical Experience.

TESTING INFORMATION
For this recruitment, you must qualify on a written test designed to measure your knowledge and skills necessary for satisfactory performance of the duties and responsibilities of this class of work. Your examination grade will be based 100% on the written test score.
The written test may be scheduled on either a weekday or weekend. Due to budget restrictions, examinations will be given only at locations within the State of Hawaii. Notification of the date, time, and location of the test will be mailed to applicants at least 7 calendar days prior to the test date.
We strongly advise applicants to make every effort to report for the test as scheduled, as accommodations for rescheduling test dates and/or locations are not guaranteed. Accommodations/exceptions to the scheduled test date may be granted on a case-by-case basis only for reasons of extreme hardship. Applicants who are unable to report to the test as scheduled must notify our office immediately, in writing. The request for accommodation or rescheduling should include a description of the circumstances involved and supporting documentation. Requests received after the written test has been administered will not be considered. The Department of Human Resources Development will not delay the establishment of lists of eligibles for rescheduled candidates.

Paid Holidays
You may be eligible for 13 paid holidays each year; 14 holidays during an election year.
Paid Vacation
You may earn vacation leave at a rate that other employers find tough to match – 21 days each full year from the FIRST year of employment. This compares to an average of 10 days offered by private companies. You may accumulate up to a total of 90 days (720 hours) of vacation.
Paid Sick Leave
You may earn sick leave at the same rate as vacation – 21 days per year from the FIRST year, and there is no limit on the amount you can accumulate. Expectant mothers may also use sick leave for pre-natal or post-natal check-ups or any illness related to pregnancy. Plus, unused accumulated sick leave may eventually be used to increase your retirement benefits in certain situations.
Other Leaves
Reasonable time off with pay may be provided for jury or witness duty, a death in the family, some military duty, and donation to the Blood Bank. Leave sharing donations may be granted to eligible employees who have serious personal illnesses or injuries or need to care for a seriously ill or injured family member. Various leaves without pay may also be granted with full re-employment rights.
Health Insurance

The State provides a free life insurance policy for employees.
Retirement Plan
The State contributes to a retirement plan for eligible employees. Generally, employees under the Hybrid Plan with 10 years of credited service and who have reached 65 years of age or have 30 years of credited service and have reached 60 years of age may retire and receive benefits. Premium Conversion Plan
Participating employees may increase their take-home pay by having the State deduct the cost of health care premiums before payroll taxes are withheld.
Flexible Spending Accounts
Eligible employees can reduce their federal and state income taxes and social security taxes through a tax-savings benefit program called Island Flex. This program allows employees to set aside money from their paychecks to pay for out-of-pocket health care expenses and eligible dependent care expenses on a BEFORE-TAX basis.
Transportation Benefits
Participating employees may increase their take-home pay by having the State deduct qualified transportation expenses (i.e. eligible parking fees, monthly bus passes for TheBus, fare coupons for The Handi-Van, Vanpool Hawaii participation fee, etc.) through pre-tax payroll deductions.
Deferred Compensation
The State offers employees a voluntary pre-tax retirement savings plan designed to give employees a tax break today and an opportunity to build a retirement nest egg through voluntary payroll deductions. Several types of investment options are available.
Temporary Disability Insurance
Qualified employees may be eligible to receive benefits for a disability caused by a non-work related injury or illness under this program.
Social Security
As an employer, the State also contributes to an employee's social security account.
Promotions & Transfers

Union & Collective Bargaining
