Sewing Servicer
Sam Moore Furniture, a division of Hooker Furnishings Corporation (NASDAQ: HOFT), is currently recruiting for a S ewing Servicer to work in our plant in Bedford, VA. Hooker Furnishings Corporation, in its 100th year of business, is a designer, marketer, and importer of case goods (wooden and metal furniture), leather furniture, and fabric-upholstered furniture for the residential, hospitality, and contract markets.

The Position:
The Sewing Servicer plays a crucial role in supporting the sewing team by ensuring they have the necessary supplies and materials to perform their work efficiently. This role involves managing and distributing sewing supplies, assisting sewers with their work needs, and maintaining an organized and clean workspace.
Key Responsibilities:
• Refill and distribute sewing supplies, such as welt cord, thread, bobbins, needles, decks, deck pads, and pull bands, ensuring sewers have what they need for each project.
• Restock supplies from the stock warehouse as needed.
• Order and deliver materials or components missing or cut incorrectly for specific sewing tasks.
• Pick up and distribute cut fabric orders from the fabric warehouse to the appropriate sewer based on their job title (e.g., cushion or body sewer).
• Order the appropriate size denims from Make Ready, based on size demand, and ensure cutters receive the required marked deck denims for wrapping cut work.
• Mark denims to indicate where sewers should attach cloth deck pieces.
• Maintain cleanliness in the sewing department by sweeping aisles regularly and ensuring the floor is swept at the end of each shift.
Qualifications:
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Good communication skills for interacting with sewers and warehouse teams.
• Ability to lift and carry supplies as needed.
Physical Demands:
• Standing and walking for extended periods.
• Lifting and moving materials up to 50 lbs.
Shift: Monday to Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
Pay: 15.00-16.00 per hour
