Description
The OEPI Improvement Intern will work alongside the Operational Efficiency & Performance Improvement (OEPI) team to support active projects focused on enhancing hospital workflows, improving patient flow, and increasing departmental efficiency. This temporary, full-time summer internship (8–12 weeks) is ideal for students pursuing degrees in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Healthcare Management. The intern will assist with Lean-related activities such as data collection, process mapping, meeting coordination, and analysis of operational metrics. This position offers practical exposure to healthcare operations and continuous improvement work in a collaborative hospital environment.
Special Qualifications
• Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated (within the past 12 months) from, a Bachelor's or Master’s degree program in:
• Industrial Engineering
• Mechanical Engineering
• Healthcare Administration
• Public Health
• Business Administration
• Or a related field
• Minimum of 1–2 years of academic, internship, or project-based experience in process improvement, operations, systems engineering, healthcare strategy, or related areas
• Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies (preferred but not required)
• Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; experience with process mapping tools (e.g., Lucidchart, Visio) is a plus
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and maintain confidentiality in a healthcare setting
