Enterprise Remanufactured Transformer Test Engineer
Brief Description
The Remanufactured Transformer Test Engineer i s responsible for the overall enterprise manufacturing test process (and procedure) and test strategy inclusive of maintaining asset registers, maintenance and equipment calibration. The functional test process shall verify quality, safety, and performance standards before delivery to the customer.
• Work in a safe manner in accordance with company safety policies, NFPA 70E, and OSHA
• Set up and operate specialized test equipment safely and accurately in accordance with company procedures and industry standards (IEEE, ANSI, UL, CSA, or customer-specific).
• Advanced troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical issues (circuit, insulation other) on remanufactured units during test failures.
• Leads asset management, specification, standardization, maintenance, and calibration of all test equipment affixed to company service centers
• Responsible for project management of testing related capital expenditures
• Provide training, support, and mentorship to the site testers. Lead service center tester certification and maintaining the skills matrix and training schedule.
• Develops and maintains testing SOP in addition to providing expert technical assistance and process development as needed on customized testing projects.
• Provides technical support internally and externally for quotes, orders, warranty situations, and troubleshooting and provide technical assistance as required for DGA reports
• Interpret test results and make appropriate recommendations based on test results.
• Develop Standardize Final Test Reports for Distribution and Power Transformers and Commercial Access to Test Documents
• Travel as necessary for training testers, support of equipment, and maintenance of test equipment
• Participate in ongoing development of technical standards and processes
Requirements
• Associates degree in an approved Electrical Engineering Technology program or Electrical Testing program, or equivalent experience
• Ten years of experience or NETA Level III Certification and thorough understanding of applicable OSHA and NFPA 70E regulations
• Prior experience (3–5 years) in electrical testing, preferably with remanufactured or rebuilt electrical equipment such as transformers.
• Knowledge of transformer construction and electrical principles related to remanufactured units.
• Electrical Engineering Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical theory, transformer operation, and testing procedures.
• Proficiency in using electrical test equipment such as turns ratio testers (TTR), megohmmeters (Megger), Hi-Pot testers, and other diagnostic tools.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, test procedures and analytical skills in interpreting data (identify patterns, making informed decisions)
• Strong attention to detail and ability to document results accurately.
• Ability to work efficiently with Microsoft products
• Ability to communicate well with clients, co-workers and work cooperatively with others
• Ability to develop relationships with clients
