Our beautiful Nokomis Beach is seeking a Recreational Specialist to ensure exceptional stewardship of the beach and coordinate special events. About the Position
In this role, you will...
• Plan, develop, implement, and promote recreational-based programs centered around Nokomis Beach and additional assigned area(s).
• Maintain division-wide special events and coverage of other beaches and water access sites, including summer camps, specialty camps, and other facility needs.
• Coordinate maintenance and contractual work to ensure safe and clean parks for customers renting amenities within the park.
• Schedule and coordinate reservations, groups, instructors, contracts, and registrations utilizing reservation software.
• Assist with creating and distributing promotional information for recreational programs and facilities.
• Work with neighborhood, youth, and community groups.
• Manage volunteers to partner and optimize recreational opportunities for the public.
About the Schedule
Work Hours:
• Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
• Weekends, evenings, and holiday work will be required according to business needs.
• As a reminder, all county employees are considered essential and must be prepared to protect and support the community and its citizens. Each employee, without exception, will have a duty assignment and be required to work during a disaster or declared emergency.
About You
Minimum Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or equivalent education.
• Three (3) years of recreational programming experience or related area.
• Valid Florida Driver's License at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP).
• Customer Service Skills Preferred
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for five (5) years.

Starting Pay: $21.85-$24.00/hr based on experience
