Assistant Project Manager
Reports To: Senior Project Manager

Job Overview: The Assistant Project Manager (APM) plays a key support role within the project management team, contributing to the successful planning, execution, and closeout of multifamily construction projects. Working closely with the Project Manager and other project staff, the APM assists in maintaining accurate budgets, ensuring compliance with municipal requirements, coordinating subcontractors and vendors, and supporting overall project documentation and communication.
This position is ideal for a detail-oriented and driven professional looking to grow within the construction industry, while gaining direct experience in the management of complex multifamily builds. The APM will be expected to take ownership of assigned tasks, follow through on project needs, and help ensure TRG’s high standards of quality, efficiency, and professionalism are upheld throughout the life of the project.
Responsibilities:
· Support the Project Manager in maintaining accurate and up-to-date project budgets and tracking municipal compliance requirements throughout the duration of the project.
· Assist in analyzing and forecasting project costs by collecting data on materials, labor, and equipment usage.
· Monitor daily and weekly project progress, helping to ensure the project stays on schedule and within budget.
· Prepare, distribute, and track subcontract agreements, purchase orders, and change orders under the direction of the Project Manager.
· Support the bidding process by gathering proposals, comparing scopes, and documenting bid practices to ensure fairness and compliance.
· Participate in pre-construction, coordination, and progress meetings, and document key takeaways, action items, and responsibilities.
· Help prepare and maintain monthly cost reports and project forecasts, providing insight into cost trends and budget status.
· Review and organize subcontractor and vendor invoices for approval, ensuring alignment with contracts and work in place.
· Assist in identifying project constraints and communicating potential risks or opportunities for improvement to the Project Manager.
· Track and help resolve subcontractor coordination issues by following up on outstanding items and escalating concerns as needed.
· Coordinate with internal teams, consultants, and municipal contacts to facilitate timely submissions, inspections, and approvals.
· Promote TRG standards on site by supporting quality control, safety, and schedule adherence efforts.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field; or equivalent work-related
experience in lieu of formal education.
· Demonstrated understanding of wood-frame, stick-built, podium, and other commercial
construction types.
· Familiarity with reading and interpreting civil, architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project, and Bluebeam; familiarity with Procore,
PlanGrid, or similar platforms is a plus.
· OSHA 30-hour certification preferred; CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
· Ability to manage time effectively, multitask in a fast-paced environment, and build strong
working relationships across trades.
· Ability to rapidly change focus between tasks, trades, buildings, or construction phases, while
maintaining attention to detail and consistent follow-through.
· Willingness to work flexible hours or weekends when needed to support project goals.
· Familiarity with drone usage for documenting site progress is a plus.
