Job Description Summary
Responsible for the conception, needs assessment, development, delivery, management, and evaluation of WDCE programs, ensuring alignment with the mission of lifelong learning and community engagement. This includes overseeing open enrollment courses, developing innovative learning opportunities tailored to diverse needs, and implementing effective marketing strategies to expand program reach and impact. Additionally, responsible for cultivating strategic partnerships with businesses (e.g., senior centers, residences, and community centers), government agencies (e.g., Prince George’s County agencies, Maryland Higher Education Commission), and professional associations (e.g., LERN , American Society on Aging) to enhance educational access for older adults. Duties may also involve managing committees, contracts, conferences, and grants to support program growth and sustainability.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Associate’s degree in Education, Adult Learning, Business Administration, or a related field required.
• Minimum of four years of professional experience in program management, education, or workforce development.
• Experience in developing, coordinating, and marketing educational programs for older adults (60+), including lifelong learning, personal enrichment, and skill-building courses preferred.
• Supervisory experience preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Program Management & Instruction
• Manage all aspects of the delivery of a program or grant, whether open to the public or offered by contract to a business, government agency or professional association, utilizing various formats (e.g., in-person, online) and locations (on- and off-campus)
• Process instructor payroll spreadsheets for submissions
• Recruit and advise students on educational pathways and lifelong learning opportunities.
• Design, pilot, and implement needs assessments to identify emerging trends and ensure programs meet evolving community needs.
• Develop programs in compliance with national, state and local laws, as well as licensing and certification requirements.
• Research industry trends and emerging technologies to design and implement innovative learning experiences that support lifelong learning.
• Collaborate with other campus offices, community colleges, and external organizations to enhance program offerings.
• Develop policies and procedures to ensure compliance with program requirements while exercising sound judgment for exceptions.
• Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, implementing modifications as needed.
• Oversee the seamless administration of student registrations, scholarship processing, instructor appointments, and related administrative tasks.
• Manage data tracking, reporting, and program analysis to assess and improve program outcomes.
• Represent the program in various committees and strategic initiatives to advance the mission of lifelong learning at PGCC .
• Assist in other WDCE initiatives and undertake special projects as requested by the director.
Faculty and Staff Coordination
• Recruit, interview, recommend for hire, train, and evaluate adjunct faculty, consultants, and support staff.
• Design and implement faculty development initiatives to enhance effective teaching approaches for diverse populations, including seniors (60+).
• Supervise administrative support staff; delegate tasks, provide coaching and guidance, and conduct performance evaluations.
Scheduling and Collaboration
• Coordinate class schedules to meet the needs of students and facilities, including day, evening, and weekend offerings.
• Collaborate with faculty, department chairs, and external partners to maintain and update curricula.
• Foster relationships with businesses, professional associations, legislators, and licensing agencies to enhance program offerings and ensure compliance.
• Develop and maintain the SAGE calendar and course schedule, ensuring accurate and timely class listings.
Marketing & Community Engagement
• Lead marketing and outreach initiatives across digital and print media to boost program visibility and enrollment
• Develop and manage course schedules for major publications, ensuring accuracy in all promotional materials.
• Build relationships with businesses, government entities, and professional associations to promote the college’s lifelong learning initiatives.
• Submit Creative Project Requests to Marketing for promotional materials.

• Experience in marketing strategies, including social media, print, and community outreach, to drive program growth.
• Proven ability to develop strategic partnerships and community engagement initiatives.
• Proficiency with digital learning platforms and educational technologies for program delivery.
• Ability to analyze program effectiveness using data-driven decision-making.
• Demonstrated expertise in developing and delivering educational programs for older adults, including training educators and facilitators, conducting needs assessments, and designing accessible, inclusive curricula that foster intellectual growth, social engagement, and community participation.
Job Requirements
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. No significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
• As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
