EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE · Minimum of a Master’s degree from an accredited university in the area of psychology, social work, or related human services field. · A minimum of one year of experience working with children who have serious emotional disturbance, including experience working with family issues. · A minimum of two years of experience working in and early childhood setting. PRINCIPLE DUTIES · Provide direct behavioral and mental health support/consultation within classroom setting regarding behavioral interventions or mental health services · Observe students in the classroom and provide feedback to teachers and parents. · Counsels students, teachers, parent/legal guardians for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving problems, creating interventions, making referral to appropriate professional and enhancing student success in school · Provide parenting groups, trainings, and workshops as needed. · Work closely with the preschool director, to 1. Identify the needs of the teachers 2. Identify the needs of the children and families 3. Assess the classroom environment and appropriate classroom management1. Ensure high quality teacher-child interactions are occurring in the classrooms · Conduct Georgetown Model evaluations and program reporting: 1. TPOT/TPITOS 2. Caregiver Interaction Scale 3. Teacher Opinion Survey 4. Preschool Risk of Expulsion Measure 5. DECA-P2 6. Number of individuals and families served · Collaborate with teachers on classroom strategies and do regular check ins to determine the effectiveness of interventions · Conduct workshops, trainings, in-service presentations in classroom management techniques and /or other topics as needed · Serve as liaison to parents and school for purposes of removing barriers to student’s success in school. Maintain communication with and between families and staff; provide support to family to help them cope with stressors related to emotional disturbances. · Monitor child/family participation and progress to assure planned provisions of services according to staffing recommendations. · Participate in a variety of meetings: 1. Child Staffing’s 2. Parent Meetings 3. Teacher/Staff Meetings 4.
