Join the team at the Muncie Area Career Center and help to expand the successful Carpentry program. You will work alongside our veteran Carpentry instructor to provide education and hands-on training to high school juniors and seniors as they learn the fundamentals of the construction trades, wall framing, insulating and drywalling, door and window installation, roofing, stair construction, trim and cabinet installation, and exterior finishing. You will assist with the management and supervision of a year-long construction project in which students will do much of the carpentry work to finish a home that will be move-in ready at year's end. You will engage with local industry partners and labor unions to expose students to the real world of construction trades. Help students build their future and a rewarding career in this high-demand pathway. Minimum Qualifications: Must hold or be able to obtain an Indiana Teaching License in CTE: Building Trades 5-12, Technology Education 5-12, or Workplace Specialist in Construction or Building Trades 9-12. In order to obtain the Workplace Specialist license, you will need to provide a letter from current or former employer(s) verifying occupational experience as follows: 1. 5,000 hours (about 2.5 years of experience) in the last five (5) years. 2. 4,000 hours (about 2 years) in the past ten (10) years and demonstration of occupational competency test. 3. 4,000 hours (about 2 years) in the past ten (10) years and evidence of occupational licensure or occupational proficiency based on approved regional, state, or national board training and evaluation. 4. 4,000 hours (about 2 years) in the past ten (10) years and completion of an accredited 2-year or higher degree in the specific certification area. 5. 4,000 hours (about 2 years) in the past ten (10) years and completion of an apprenticeship or internship program. Preferred Qualifications: Five (5) or more years of experience in carpentry, construction, or construction management; ability to be credentialed to teach dual credit courses in Construction Technology (credentialing requirements may be discussed with the Director of Career & Technical Education).
