Controller
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Manage the financial functions for the plant manufacturing operations. Work closely with department heads to maximize profitability, protect company assets, and to ensure adherence to Corporate Financial Policies and SOX compliance. Prepare annual budget, monthly/quarterly rolling forecast, reconcile inventories and perform general accounting duties in monthly closing. Monitor cost and variance reporting systems to control inventories and cost.
REPORTS TO: Division Controller
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ensure effective systems, procedures and staff to maintain accurate books of accounts and other financial records to ensure timely and accurate data for reporting and analysis.
• Manage general accounting functions, including cost accounting, fixed assets, standard cost, intercompany accounts, etc.
• Report and interpret financial results and performance measurement against budget and forecasts.
• Manage preparation of budgets and forecasts.
• Develop, implement and ensure adherence to effective financial controls so as to ensure protection of assets, profitability and SOX compliance.
• Ensure adherence to Corporate Financial Policies and procedures.
• Perform cost and financial analysis as required.
• Provide analysis and technical guidance in financial and cost matters to operations and department heads.
• Identify profit opportunities and assist in implementation of profit improvement projects.
• Control capital expenditures and perform financial analysis and justification of capital and major expense proposals.
• Prepare monthly reports summarizing financial results and performance measurements against budgets and forecast.
• Advise and make recommendations to management regarding activities that are in conflict with profit objectives.
• Review and analyze the balance sheet, accruals and reserves.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• BS Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.
• Advanced degree in Accounting is preferred.
• CPA or MBA is desirable
• A minimum of six (6) years accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment, with a clear understanding of manufacturing operations.
• Understanding of US GAAP.
• Experience in a supervisory or leadership position.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise and review work of others.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work on multiple assignments.
