GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The nurse manager is responsible for the efficient and safe clinical staff performance in the medical practice. Responsible for supervision and evaluation of clinical staff in conjunction with the providers and the nursing clinical coordinator. Maintains the clinical area including supplies and equipment needed to provide patient care.
Classification: To be classified as a Nurse Manager II, the office supervised must be of high complexity due to the number of clinical staff supervised, the number of providers, or extended hours of operation. As defined as one or more of the following:
• Supervising six (6) or more clinical support staff
• Four (4) or more providers
• Office open more than 55 hours per week
Duties And Responsibilities
• Implements CHC’s mission statements and practice expectations in the delivery of patient care
• Maintains nursing schedule to meet practice needs and budget limitations.
• Assists with clinical duties as needed
• Ensures timely and efficient patient flow
• Collaborates with providers and nurses to identify needs and solution to problems that may occur within the practice.
• Promotes quality clinical staff practice by interpreting and applying CHC policy and procedures for safety, quality improvement, personnel and corporate practice
• Ensures a safe, clean and efficient clinical area
• Maintains adequate clinical supplies and functioning equipment
• Delegates office duties to individual staff members
• Establishes and maintains working relationships with external agencies such as DHEC, school districts, etc.
• Assists in community health promotion/disease prevention efforts
• Identifies clinical educational needs of staff and develops resources to meet them
• Holds monthly clinical staff meetings. Communicates by email as needed for informational needs or when staff meetings are not possible
• Assigning preceptors for student nurses and monitoring their performance
• Precepts or delegates responsibilities for orientation of new staff
• Promotes excellent clinical staff performance through mentoring and counseling
• Collaborates with clinical coordinator with evaluation of clinical staff performance
• Documents, using CHC evaluation forms and disciplinary guidelines, staff performance
• Coordinates with clinical coordinator interventions that will support and meet identified performance issues with individual staff
• Coordinates with administrative office manager to promote positive teamwork that will result in excellent patient care
• Coordinates with the laboratory coordinator to maintain laboratory supplies, implement lab procedures and meet CLIA standards of care
• Coordinates with Early Childhood Program personnel as needed to maintain initiatives to meet patient needs
• Assists Behavioral Mental Health personnel to ensure smooth transition and coordination of patients mental health care

In Addition, This Position Requires
• Education:
• Graduate of accredited RN or LPN nursing program
• Work Experience:
• Minimum of 2 years medical office practice
• Licensure and Credentials:
• SC Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
• Current BCLS certifications
• Skills:
• Excellent communication, including verbal and written skills
• Demonstrated leadership skills
• Comprehensive knowledge of clinical skills and nursing procedures
• Current computer skills
• Ability to establish and promote positive interpersonal relationships
• Excellent organizational skills
• Knowledge of state nursing practice guidelines
• Physical Abilities:
• Stand for extended periods of time
• Able to push, pull, reach, sit, stoop, and stretch
• Have full range of body motion
• Have the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity needed to operate a computer, telephone, copier and medical equipment
• Able to lift and position patients using appropriate body mechanics
• Have a normal range of hearing and eyesight to be able to collect data and record where appropriate (i.e. computer and/or paper)
• Vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
• Work Environment:
• This position involves exposure to customer/patient elements. The work environment is that of a medical practice that enforces safe OSHA compliant practice. HIPAA rules and regulations are stringently enforced. The position requires staff to work under pressure at times and with a diverse population. As a medical office, exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, sharps, and other conditions are common.
• This job also operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard Office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
