About the Position
As a Code Enforcement Officer, you will...
• Investigate and enforce code violations, process related complaints, and maintain records.
• Identify property owners and legal descriptions using County Records.
• Input and track case data using internal systems; compile case files for public records.
• Coordinate with contractors for property abatement and code compliance.
• Prepare and testify in Special Magistrate hearings.
• Remove illegal signs from public rights-of-way.
• Engage with the community through education, cleanup events, and HOA meetings.
• As needed, attend required training sessions and assist with administrative support.
About the Schedule
Work Hours:
• Full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Typical Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Work schedule may vary due to: rotational Saturdays/Sundays, overtime opportunities, early morning and late evening inspections, and/or Saturday Community Clean Up.

About You
To be considered for this role, you must have the following:
• High School Diploma or its equivalent -AND- three (3) years of field enforcement experience involving interpreting, documenting, reporting, and/or correcting violations of regulatory codes or ordinances.
• -OR- An Associate's degree can substitute for two (2) years of the required experience.
• Must have, or be willing to obtain, FACE (Florida Association of Code Enforcement) certification (one level) within one year of employment.
• Valid Florida driver's license by date of hire.
The ideal candidate has the following knowledge, skills, and/or abilities:

• FACE certification and meter reading experience preferred.
• Proficient with inspection tools, office equipment, and software.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Able to manage difficult interactions and explain regulations clearly.
• Decisive and composed in fast-paced environments.
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment for a period of five years.
Physical Demands: Employees in this role must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 lbs.

Starting Pay Range: $23.56 - $25.50, based on experience.
