The Hardware Engineer Lead plays a vital role in interdisciplinary project teams within industrial logistics and automotive environments. This role focuses on adapting electrical construction for various projects and supports both planning and onsite execution activities. The position works with the lead software engineer and/or Project Manager. This role also includes hands-on support during commissioning activities such as troubleshooting, rewiring, and implementing new wiring systems. Key responsibilities include the technical execution of EPLAN electrical construction drawings for new systems, documentation updates (as built / redline drawings), and modifications to existing systems. The engineer will use customer-specific templates and best-practice technologies to develop updated schematics and bills of material. Additionally, this role involves supporting the Lead Engineer and Project Manager in technical customer discussions related to hardware systems. We are looking for a Hardware Engineer Lead. This is a hybrid position located in Greenville, South Carolina. We are able to assist with relocation! You’ll make an impact by: Execute electrical design tasks, including new project drawings, system modifications, and as-built documentation using EPLAN. Support commissioning teams with troubleshooting and wiring adjustments. Coordinate and manage all relevant technical information with both internal and external project team members. Ensure compliance with Siemens Business Conduct Guidelines, including fiscal, EHS (Environment, Health, Safety), and export control regulations. Monitor budget adherence for hardware-related project activities and minimize non-conformance costs (NCC). Proactively identify risks, opportunities, and prepare technical documentation for change requests. Support Siemens PM@Siemens methodology, quality management, and milestone deliverables per project guidelines. Participate in bid phases by reviewing customer specifications and assessing technical feasibility. Promote the use of Siemens products and services wherever applicable. Facilitate knowledge management by gathering, documenting, and sharing lessons learned and technical expertise. Maintain clear, targeted, and open communication with all stakeholders and actively seek feedback. You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications: Basic qualifications: 3–5 years of professional experience in automation engineering or a related field. 3-5 years of experience with working knowledge of electrical engineering principles, especially EPLAN schematic creation. 3-5 years of experience with installation and commissioning experience in body shops, conveyor systems, and storage/retrieval systems. 3-5 years of hands-on experience with industrial safety regulations and standards relevant to project implementation. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word). 3-5 years of experience with components and products from Siemens, SEW, Sick, Pilz, Wago, Festo. 3-5 years of experience of proven ability with competence in basic and detail engineering Fluent in English. Must hold a valid U.S. driver’s license in good standing. Ability and willingness to travel within the United States as required for project needs. Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship now or in the future. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Certifications relevant to the role may be required based on project or regional standards. Ability to speak multiple languages, Spanish and German in particular. Experience with EPLAN or Ruplan is preferred. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
