JOB CLASS CODE: JOB TITLE: Home School Liaison
JOB GOAL: To connect students, families, and community members with school services to improve educational experience for students.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Valid Kentucky Certification as School Social Worker or Kentucky Certification as Guidance Counselor or Valid Kentucky Teacher Certification with classroom experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students with serious school or family problems.
• Evidence of ability to develop and maintain positive, productive, and professional relations with school personnel, families, and community partners.
REPORTS TO: Preschool Coordinator
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, and RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage student enrollment and recruitment by ensuring requirements are followed per policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Responsible for communicating student record information and assisting with student records management; including but not limited to Infinite Campus enrollment, flags, student safety, transportation.  as directed by the Preschool Coordinator
• Manage and maintain public relation communications; including but not limited to school website, social media, DOJO, etc.
• Participate in and ensure community service coordination with outside agencies; in particular for our English as a Second Language family support; maintain consistent community outreach through collaboration projects.
• Coordinate district services as directed by the Preschool Coordinator; including but not limited Health services, coordinating with outside agencies, assisting with follow up and 504 Plan consideration for health situations, and ensuring appropriate releases are completed and filed accordingly.
• Connect with families by completing home visits as needed, follow-up regarding attendance, coordinate parent events, trainings, fundraisers, parent teacher conferences, and all other school support activities.
• Coordinate placement with enrollment specifically related to First Steps support.
• Participate in assigned committee meetings and lead as directed by Preschool Coordinator designated events such as graduation, holiday programs, and seasonal events.
• Support person for school safety.
• Serve as liaison for ELL students and families;  coordinate services of ELL translator
• Assist in maintaining students’ cumulative files and ensures that all records are complete and correct for students transferring in and out;  communicates with families to gain necessary information
• Lead maintenance of discipline records and direct the work of Intervention Assistance (IA)  staff in collaboration with the Preschool Coordinator.
• Serve as school contact and  liaison between social service agencies and mental health service providers
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintain complete and accurate records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
• Assist in upholding and enforcing district and school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policies.
• Make provisions for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms through appropriate parent teacher conferences.
• Individually and cooperatively supervise pupils in and out of classroom activities during the assigned working day.
• Abide by the Professional Code of Ethics for Kentucky Certified School Personnel.
• Adhere to the requirements of any District or school employee handbook, Owensboro Board of Education policies, and all applicable laws and regulations.
• Perform all other functions deemed necessary by the immediate supervisor that are reasonable and are covered by local board policy or law.
• Act in accordance with the by-laws and policies as set forth by the Owensboro Board of Education, KRS and KAR, and applicable Federal laws and regulations.
• Demonstrate loyalty and dedication to the purposes and goals of the Owensboro Public Schools.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Indoor, environmentally controlled.  Office/school environment including but not limited to telephones, personal interruptions, background noises.  Will require working with or near the public, parents, and with children and will be subject to sounds, scents, and other related environmental factors.  This position will require dealing with conflict and requires use of sound judgment.

Salary schedule based on rank, experience, or credentials.

FLSA Classification:  Exempt
Contract Days:  220
Pay rate: $44,782 - $74,910 annually, contingent on certification and verified experience
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Certified or Classified Evaluation Plan contingent on qualifications.  The evaluation will be conducted by the Preschool Coordinator.
