JOB SUMMARY:
Purpose of the position is to support the Discharge Times funded research, "An IDEAL model-led discharge process: The effect of an innovative flow approach on discharge times in the medical center acute care setting". Grad research assistant will work at Richland Hospital Columbia SC to support the research intervention with staff on 8E and 11E and perform other duties as assigned. Part-time, temporary grant position.
JOB DUTIES:
20% - Essential - Survey Collection:
Distributes surveys (i.e., Barriers and Facilitators quantitative and qualitative survey instruments), collects surveys. Collects survey data that staff complete outside their normal working hours. Fliers announce the presence of student researcher. Stores surveys in a locked box on unit during the week.
20% - Essential - Survey Transportation:
Transports the surveys and any incentive card records from the hospital to the storage and processing office at Clemson University School of Nursing building, 451 suite 605 Grove Rd., Greenville SC .
20% - Essential - Audit:
Performs audit of intervention dosage on the nursing units. Makes observations about completion of the discharge planning boards in patient rooms. Stores data in electronic digitally secure storage. Enters data into SPSS, collaborates with Principal investigators to analyze the data. Collaborates with Principal investigators to author a manuscript, fabricate poster or other disseminations.
20% - Essential - Protocol Writing:
Co-authors and follows written protocols.Respects the research ethics of specially protected employees by conducting business discretely and outside of the view of the unit manager so as not to disclose the confidential participation of the staff. Respects patient privacy, making no eye contact, conversation, observation of the patient room¿s activities.
20% - Essential - Incentive Cards:
Distributes incentive cards. Keeps records of distribution of incentive cards.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - A bachelor's degree in a related field and work experience directly related to the assigned research area; or a hugh school diploma and advanced journey-level work experience in a clinical research setting.
Work Exp 1+ years
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Baccalaureate degree in health related area or in a graduate program or having graduated with a graduate degree in a health related field.
Clinical experience in an acute care hospital.
BCLS, CITI research ethics certification.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Air or surface contaminants for infection can occur--wear protective equipment when necessary. 20%
Does not interact with patients; does not provide patient care; does not actually need to enter the room. The board information can be seen from hallway.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Standard Hrs: 8 hours per week
COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Band: 05; expected pay range: $20-25/hour
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL
Normal Operations - Level 0
Required to follow emergency facility closure and modified operations directives,
and not normally expected to work on-site during emergency situations.
