We seek a driven, detail-oriented, citizen-focused professional to join the Sarasota County Public Works team as a Budget & District Coordinator. In this vital role, you will help manage the financial health and operational excellence of our Public Improvement Districts (PIDs) and Lighting Improvement Districts (LIDs), ensuring our neighborhoods stay vibrant, well-lit, and thoughtfully planned. Budget & Financial Responsibilities:
• Strategically manage annual budgets and 5-year financial plans for assigned districts.
• Oversee ad valorem and non-ad valorem assessments — shaping how community services are funded.
• Daily review of department financial transactions and completion of the monthly Consolidated Financial Report.
• Monthly analysis of all expenditures, projections, and encumbrances, including internal services and revenues.
District Coordination:
• Coordinate stakeholder engagement for infrastructure projects like lighting improvements, hardscape upgrades, and parking programs.
• Respond to citizen inquiries, resolve Florida Power & Light (FPL) service issues, and manage public communications.
• Submit Non-Ad Valorem tax files for the Truth-in-Millage (TRIM) Notice to the Property Appraiser and Tax Collector’s Offices. And coordinate with county departments for advertising, board items, and related activities.
Policy & Project Management:
• Serve as the department’s APWA Accreditation Manager, maintaining high-performance standards countywide.
• Manage the department’s Business Practices (BPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
About You
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in related field AND two (2) years of related work experience.
• -OR- Six (6) years of professional experience may be substituted at management discretion.
• Valid Florida Driver's License at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience providing presentations and workshops to the public and quasi-judicial venues.
• Knowledge or experience with County codes about ordinance or resolution preparation.

Starting Pay Range: $56,139.20 - $63,000.00/ annually, based on experience.
