Job Summary: This position will provide full-time environmental, health, and safety support to the operations and will ensure that all practices follow Specialty Foods Group, LLC regulatory requirements. This individual will work to create and enforce a culture of safety within the company, implement programs, policies, and assessments to ensure the company is in compliance with all federal and internal health and safety rules. This position works closely with manufacturing, maintenance, and other staff teams. The individual in this role will spend time on the plant floor and in the office. Typical work hours are first shift but shall be on call to provide guidance and support as needed; may occasionally work 2nd shift.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Assists the EHS Manager in data collection necessary for preparing, monitoring, and maintaining all records and reports that pertain to safety, health, and environment (i.e., OSHA Log, Annual Summary Log, Audit Fuel usage inventory logs, and natural gas usage logs, fire extinguisher, alarm system, and equipment inspection and testing records).
• Works with the EHS Manager on developing OSHA and environmental related programs as needed.
• Works with EHS Manager to create and maintain policies and procedures related to environmental, health, and safety programs.
• Maintains a presence on the production floor to identify potential causes for incidents through facility inspections and assure all company related safety rules are being followed.
• Completes facility inspections related to Ground Water Protection and Spill Prevention Plans.
• Ensures all OSHA and Environmental required training is scheduled and completed (ie Ammonia Refrigeration training, powered industrial truck training, evacuations, fire extinguisher, LOTO, Hazard Communications, Bloodborne pathogens, hearing conservation, PPE, etc.)
• Assists in all required safety testing, is scheduled, and performed (i.e., Hearing test, respirator fit testing, audiometric level testing, air quality testing.)
• Completes required PPE assessments to assure all employees are wearing proper PPE.
• Conducts Job Safety Analysis and assist the production team in developing SOP's.
• Assists in monthly inspection and cleaning of all Hazmat Team & Ammonia Refrigeration PPE; coordinates annual testing of equipment as required by OSHA.
• Reviews and follows up on incident investigation, root cause analysis, and trend analysis.
• Assists the EHS Manager and Refrigeration Manager in maintaining proper documentation for the Risk Management Plan and the Process Safety Management Plan (PSM).
• Inputs and tracks safety related work orders using the E-Maintenance system, utilizing the system reports for incident investigations when necessary.
• Assists in the monthly safety committee meetings and maintains list of follow-up issues and creates agendas/meeting minutes.
• Responsible for maintaining training records in the Alchemy system and running reports as necessary.
• Participates as a Hazmat Team member.
• Ability to transport employees as needed to a medical facility as a result of an injury and/or required annual testing. (Hearing, Respiratory Physicals)
• Maintains first aid supplies.
• Completes daily Opacity readings

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree in Safety or Environmental Science or equivalent experience for a minimum of 3 years.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills: Must have above average computer skills in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Certified in First Aid, OSHA, and CPR or ability to be certified within six (6) months; OSHA 30Hr Certificate
