As a Consultant, you’ll plan high impact events for the Nationwide Financial teams. This includes end to end meeting management, event strategy and delivery for Due Diligence meetings, Leader Summits, partner/firm meetings, Lunch and Learns in the field, and Road Shows. The events you plan and execute will help drive forward business results. Additionally, you will collaborate with our corporate events team on events where appropriate to ensure seamless delivery and execution. May provide guidance and/or direct leadership to lower-level event planners.Job DescriptionKey Responsibilities: Responsible for every aspect of event preparations, such as selecting venues and menus, handling logistics and presenters/speakers, sending out invites and conducting pre- and post-event evaluations and reporting on outcomes.Sets strategy and overall plan for all events that will occur throughout the year for the respective area/team. Manages meeting experience for senior level management team that includes completion of the executive summary, pre-event prep call and meeting logistics. Cultivates relationships with key partners to understand their business goals and objectives. When developing event structure and content ensures these goals and objectives are aligned with the direction of the leader/associate.Leverages data and participant feedback to propose and identify ways to improve future events.Develops and identifies best practices to ensure events can be easily replicated and deliver the most impact in the most efficient and effective manner. Documents these best practices for easy replication.Serves as the primary contact with vendors, presenters, and stakeholders during the event planning process to determine best option and ensure alignment and successful execution. Develops and controls timelines, including regularly reassessing risks, throughout project life. Revises project plans on an ongoing basis to maintain alignment with other projects and the business strategy.Drives a Return on Investment including the collection and analysis of event data to determine event success. Outcomes include the development of future program recommendations and event benefits including sales lift.Leads complex project teams to ensure the successful operation of all event details and components, regardless of in-person, virtual, or hybrid; including, but not limited to travel, lodging, attendee management, speakers, entertainment, A/V and production, decor, gifts and amenities, print collateral, and onsite event management.Develops and ensures event budgets are met and maintained. Allocates budget based on priorities to maximize funds. Accountable for justifying and ensuring expense can be covered when overage occurs ensure proper approvals/justification.Partners and negotiates with vendors to establish and foster relationships to ensure adequate options and offerings.Vets, selects and ensure outsides speakers are prepared to attend events. Ensures content aligns and drives intent of event.Collaborates with the Corporate events team on large scale events to ensure business needs and expectations are met and understood. Serves as the voice of leaders.May provide direct leadership or indirect leadership to lower-level event planners within team. Follows compliance guidelines by understanding limitations on gifting, travel, meals and other items as it pertains to NF meetings and events. May manage and drive department recognition programs to ensure effectiveness and accuracy.May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Reporting Relationships: Reports to Leader and may have 1 to 2 direct reports who focus on events. Typical Skills and Experiences: Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, event planning or related field. Experience: 7 or more years of corporate event planning or related experience preferred. Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Expert knowledge of event planning process and procedures. Extremely well-organized and possess a sound knowledge of vendor management. Proven ability to multitask and manage several competing priorities. Exceptional ability to consult with the business and deliver results. Proven ability to manage a budget and properly allocate. Demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority. Excellent communication and attention to detail skills are vital in this role. Proven ability to negotiate favorable terms with vendors and speakers. Demonstrated ability to effectively lead others. Ability to be flexible and agile to innovatively address issues under stress. Able to analyze and make decisions based on sound practices and budgetary considerations. Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
