Job Responsibilities
Paris Mountain State Park’s roots date as far back as the Great Depression, when it was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps. This heritage can still be seen in the preserved stone and timber outside of the renovated bathhouse, now known as the Park Center. Inside, the center features historical exhibits and a classroom to teach young and old about the park’s ecology.
Job Purpose And Duties
Performs duties to provide interpretative and outdoor programming which exemplify the natural and cultural resources of this state park. Must maintain inventory of natural and cultural resources. Provide direction for the management of Paris Mountain State Park so that the management practices preserve and protect these resources while providing a quality recreational experience for the visitors.
• Plans, promotes and conducts tours, programs, workshops and activities for the park visitor.
• Promotes the park, the Park System and the state through park presentations, newspaper articles and other media appearances.
• Develops and manages the overall educational/ interpretive plan.
• Conducts research in areas relative to the park to enhance the interpretation and management of the resources.
• Coordinates community and volunteer programs, including pursuing grants.
• Practice and promote teamwork at Paris Mountain State Park, throughout the agency and with external agency stakeholders. Represents the park as an active member on agency teams assigned throughout the year.
• Assist with park administrative, operational and maintenance activities.
• Responsible for cataloging and inventory of specimens and artifacts.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
Bachelor of Science degree in the natural sciences field. Minimum of two years experience in programming and interpretation of natural and/or cultural resources.
Additional Requirements
• Ability to read, write and understand written and oral procedures and directions.
• Must be able to communicate to groups of people.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.

Actual Job Location: Paris Mountain State Park
Full-time, 40 hours per week rotating schedule including weekends and holidays.
