Girls on the Run Coach
Girls on the Run coaches are trained volunteers who lead a team of participants through a season of powerful and fun lessons. You do not need to be a runner; you simply need to have a desire to support and encourage the next generation. Coaches receive all the tools and support they need and find that they get as much out of coaching as they give.
Responsibilities
• Get to know and understand your co-coaches to better serve your team.
• Have fun while serving as a role model for program participants.
• Review, prepare and supervise weekly lessons (curriculum provided by Girls on the Run).
• Collaborate with other coaches for successful lesson delivery.
• Commit for the entire season (practices and end-of-season 5K event).
• Facilitate communication with parents/guardians of program participants.
Qualifications
• You must be at least 18 years or older.
• Complete our Coach Registration Application
• Consent to and complete a background check.
• Attend and finish New Coach Training (for new coaches only).
• Commit to the season’s practice schedule, which is two times per week (times and locations vary depending on your preferred location).
Season Details
• The Fall 2025 Season Starts the week of September 8, 2025
• You must submit your Coach Registration Application by: August 22, 2025 (Apply by May 23 to be entered for a chance to win $50 to Target)!
• New Coach Training information (for new coaches only): Online component + in-person training. In-person options:
• New Coach Training: Saturday, August 23, 9:00 - 11:30 AM in Greenville
• Make-up Option 1: Thursday, August 28, 4:00 - 6:30 PM in Anderson
• Make-up Option 2: Thursday, September 4, 5:00 - 7:30 PM in Spartanburg.
• The end-of-season celebratory 5K will be on Saturday, November 22 in Greenville!
