JOB SUMMARY
The John and Karen Arnold Simulation Lab Educator will work collaboratively with department leadership, faculty, and staff to ensure evidence-based clinical standards and simulation best practices are reflected in all simulation activities. The Simulation Educator is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating simulation-based education. This role includes developing simulation scenarios, operating simulation equipment, facilitating debriefing sessions, and ensuring alignment with educational and institutional objectives. Knowledge of nursing education and simulation pedagogy is essential. This position is a 10-month, full-time placement . Availability during evenings and weekends is required .
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Operation • Provide technical support for human patient simulators, task trainers, beds, headwalls, monitors, other health care equipment, and the simulation recording system.
• In collaboration with the simulation director, identify equipment needs, updates, or repairs that are needed.
• Review new equipment operations and offer instruction sessions to simulation staff.
• Anticipates supply needs while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
• Assist with and oversee the set-up and take down of laboratory and simulation equipment .
• Use of the scheduling platform for planning, scheduling, evaluation, and maintenance of laboratory, simulation, simulation equipment/supplies, and student evaluations.
• Interprofessional Simulation • Support Sim-IPE activities throughout campus and the community
• Collaborate effectively with faculty from other disciplines to plan and implement Sim-IPE activities.
• Utilize best practices in the design, development, and evaluation of Sim-IPE.
• Simulation Design • Support the development of outcomes and objectives for each scenario/activity based on needs assessments, program outcomes, and accreditation requirements.
• Collaborate with faculty, course coordinators, and clinical faculty to coordinate Simulation-Based Education SBE
• Ensure that best practice and evidence-based research are applied in the development of laboratory and simulation activities. program development.
• Facilitate laboratory and simulation activities
• Assist with the review of all simulation activities to ensure quality.
• Facilitate the debriefing process, including assisting in choosing an appropriate method of debriefing to meet the objectives of the scenario.
• Ensure student safety and student confidentiality as it relates to psychological safety within the laboratory and simulation by maintaining FERPA.
• Evaluation of Simulation-Based Education (SBE) • Assist with the evaluation of laboratory and simulation activities using an evidence-based evaluation
• Assist with evaluation training for facilitators, debriefings, and standardized patients
• Assist with choosing the most appropriate evaluation tool
• Professional Development • Participate in professional development activities that address desired learning outcomes and align with an individual's role and the priorities of the institution.
• Reevaluate the professional development plan on a regular basis using formative and summative methods by both the individual and the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) required, or plan to obtain within 5 years of entry into education.
• Current Professional Nursing License in Pennsylvania.
• Minimum of 3 -years ’ experience in clinical nursing practice.
• Minimum of 2-years’ experience in an accredited nursing education program
• Strong foundation in clinical skills including but not limited to; physical assessment, patient education, common clinical procedures, documentation, and interpersonal communication.
• Demonstrate evidence of teaching ability in simulation and skills instruction.
• Current certification in simulation education or willingness to obtain certification.
• Ability to problem-solve and work independently.
• Ability to excel at details, prioritize, multitask, and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiar with Microsoft products, comfortable with technology, and willing to learn new technologies.
• Physical ability to lift, move, and set up simulation lab equipment weighing up to 50 lbs., with assistance.
