Commodity Risk Manager

Job Summary of the Commodity Risk Manager:
The Commodity Manager for Sauer Brands is responsible for the strategic procurement of various agricultural commodities consumed within the manufacturing process. The successful candidate will serve as Sauer Brand’s subject matter expert on commodities and their associated markets, working to strategically procure materials, mitigate market risks while optimizing costs, and advise senior leadership of pending opportunities and obstacles. As a Sauer Brands team member, the candidate will execute special projects, initiatives as assigned, accept safety as a condition, and support factory operations. This role reports to the VP, Procurement.
Commodity Risk Manager Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Strategically procure Soybean Oil, Sugar, Eggs and other commodities.
• Lead the development of long-term strategies (including physical commodity sourcing and financial risk strategies and supplier management strategy) to deliver business objectives.
• Identify and manage connectivity with functional stakeholders and suppliers.
• Manage stakeholder engagement and alignment throughout the end-to-end sourcing and risk management process.
• Develop risk mitigation and margin enhancement strategies and recommendations for purchased commodities.
• Calculate commodity exposure using cost models and stress tests for forecasted raw material purchases, oversee underlying risk exposure and monitoring process through various reconciliations in partnership with the Finance team.
• Create and maintain reports for category and market risk, trade activities and compliance documentation.
• Collect, manage, and report external market intelligence. Provide insights and report on commodity performance, trends, and forecasts to senior leadership.
• Monitor market dynamics and make coverage recommendations to optimize value in commodity markets. Analyze trends in commodity markets.
• Maintain physical and financial commodities positions in compliance with Commodity Risk Policy.
• Provide financial planning and budgeting support for projected costs
• Strategically identify cost savings opportunities
• Identify alternate sources of supply
• Identify waste and seek opportunities for cost reduction in the supply chain

• Education and Experience Requirement:
• College Degree Required (Business, Finance, Economics, or Supply Chain preferred)
• 5+ years of business experience in all aspects of sourcing processes including Agricultural Commodity Risk Management, contract negotiation and project management.
• P&L or Category accountability required
• Experience with ERP System(s), Oracle (Peoplesoft) preferred
• Job Location:
• Richmond, VA (other Sauer Brands locations in Greenville, SC; and New Century, KS are options as well)
