Chief Operations Officer
Boswell Oil Company is a dynamic growth-oriented distributor of lubricants and fuels to wholesale, retail, and commercial end user markets throughout Georgia and surrounding states. We are seeking an experienced Chief Operations Officer for our family owned and operated company. Our nearly 100 year old company is headquartered in Athens, Georgia with additional facilities in Thomson, Waycross, Albany, and Moultrie. Basing out of our Athens location, the COO will directly supervise three Operations Managers and report to the CEO. In partnership with the CEO, CFO, and CMO, the COO will set strategic policy to drive our business forward. Compensation will be commensurate with experience. This is a full time, salaried exempt position. Previous experience in logistics and transportation is very desirable for a candidate to be successful, and previous experience in the petroleum industry is strongly preferred.
SUMMARY:
Manage company operations by maintaining conformance and implementing efficiency/process improvements. Develop procedures, monitor implementation of systems improvement, and drive performance through established KPIs. Ensures compliance with company policies and government regulations.

• Oversee Fuel and Lubricant operations at:
• Athens
• Thomson
• Albany
• Moultrie
• Waycross
• Manage productivity, quality assurance/quality control, and safety.
• Plan, direct, and supervise all product deliveries and services offered by the company.
• Monitor and evaluate the efficiency of day-to-day operations.
• Responsible for all project management and engineering, budgeting, cost and time control, and reporting.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
The minimum education required for this position is a Bachelor’s Degree in business, logistics, or related field. Masters of Business Administration or similar preferred. Industry specific certifications may be considered in lieu of degree(s). Minimum 7 years experience in a similar role with experience in Transportation, Logistics, or Petroleum; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Managerial/supervisory experience required, progressive managerial positions though multiple aspects of operations preferred. Budget management and financial forecasting experience strongly preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents; to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to read, speak, and write the English language. Ability to present prepared information to a variety of groups including drivers, employees, and management.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to comprehend and apply the principles of mathematics. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical solutions. Knowledge of costing and production methods in a manufacturing environment.
REASONING ABILITY:
This position requires an ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the Company and its insurers.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Computer skills to include experience working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, any Web Browser, ERP systems, and database systems. Familiarity with Power BI preferred.
