Duties/Responsibilities
Duties/Responsibilities
Utilize comparative genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics to identify bacterial virulence factors and develop practical diagnostic tools, as well as phenotypic resistance screening methods for bacterial pathogens of vegetables particularly onion, brassicas, pepper and tomato.
Percentage of time 30 Duties/Responsibilities
Examine how key production practices, environmental factors, and inoculum sources that affect bacterial disease outbreaks in vegetables. Develop, optimize and extend practical solutions against bacterial diseases on vegetables that are viable environmentally and economically.

Expected to work closely with different key industry stakeholders, and be involved in training undergraduate and graduate students, keeping records related to research projects, synthesizing data, presenting results at local and national conferences and preparing scientific manuscripts for publications.

PhD in plant pathology
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or Competencies
Working understanding and experience with host and pathogen genomes.
