Are you an experienced Landscape Maintenance Technician with an eye for compliance and regulations? Sarasota County is currently recruiting for a Compliance Maintenance Specialist II for our beautiful Beaches. This role is responsible for leading small to large projects involving one or more crew(s) and monitoring contractor services. Typical duties can include scheduling, coordinating, reviewing, inspecting, and occasionally tree trimming, along with other vegetation landscaping duties. The end goal is to ensure private and public projects comply with federal, state, and local regulations, statutes, and County ordinances.

About the Position
In this role, you will be responsible for...
Inspecting the work performed by vendors, ensuring quality and completeness based on schedules and the performance stands of the contract.
• Assist the Contract Manager with providing daily direction and setting expectations of duties.
• Prepare and maintain inspection documentation.
• Document and report vendor performances utilizing a work management system and advise the contract manager of deficiencies in the quality of work with recommendations for corrective actions.
• Assist with verification that payment requests match the work that has been satisfactorily completed in a billing period.
• Monitor safety requirements.
• Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with vendors, customers, and co-workers.
• Meet with customers and vendors to clarify and resolve work-related challenges and requests when approved by the contract manager.
• Provide input and feedback on contract development initiatives.
Various maintenance tasks including but not limited to:
• Utilize small engine equipment to provide necessary support to department goals and assignments.
• Submit work orders as needed.
• Line-of-sight and overgrowth clearance.
• Use of string trimmer, edger, pressure washer, leaf blowers, chainsaw, and various electric and hand tools.
• Maintenance of small engine equipment.
• Trim trees and shrubs.
• Plant trees, grass, and/or shrubs in beds and/or open areas.
• Use herbicides with invasive plant and landscape bed management.
About the Schedule
Work Hours:
• Full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Normal Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
• Schedules can vary due to split shifts, rotations, emergencies, etc.
• Evenings, holidays, and/or weekend hours may occasionally be required.
About You
Minimum Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or its equivalent.
• Three (3) years or more of experience in construction/landscape maintenance, contract-applicable construction trades, or in a field providing technical supervisory services to construction/landscape maintenance contractors.
• -OR- College or university-level training in an appropriate field may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required construction/maintenance experience.
• Valid Florida Driver's License by date of hire.
• Florida Pesticide Applicators license, with endorsements in Limited Lawn & Ornamental (LLO), within six (6) months from the date of hire. ( We can help with this! )
Physical Demands: May occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment for five (5) years.
