Position: Controller The Controller will play a vital role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our talented accounting team responsible for billing, payroll, purchasing, accounts payable, and general ledger functions. Our accounting Support Team is vital to Palmetto’s growth strategy. You will have a key role in integrating accounting functions of acquired operations to free up operational personnel to focus on growth. While we need you to have strong accounting skills, it is important that you function as an engaging manager who supports the organization’s culture within the accounting team for their success and career progression. This is a Full-Time, on-site position located in Greer, South Carolina. Key Responsibilities: Lead the operations of the accounting department including billing and collections, accounts payable, general ledger, and payroll functions. Be the go-to resource for day-to-day guidance for the accounting staff. Develop a deep and full understanding of the key business processes and become the go-to manager for the accounting team and be a part of process redesign. Support and develop the corporate accounting team. Provide feedback on an ongoing basis and through monthly one-on-ones and formal performance reviews. Oversee the monthly financial statement close process. Prepare the accounting for certain month-end adjustments and certain internal reporting. Transform the monthly close process into a routine that concludes within 7 business days after month-end. Lead the integration of financial processes of acquired companies through a smooth and quick transition period. Develop relationships across the organization. Be regarded as a trusted financial leader with a service mentality internally and externally. Manage the NetSuite general ledger system. Become the organization’s key knowledge leader of the platform. Monitor cash balances and oversee cash forecasting. Work alongside the CFO in developing the annual budget. Serve as the primary point of contact for the annual financial statement audit and 401k audit. Have an active role in producing financial management reports and analysis. Collaborate and support the CFO with accurate and timely information and analysis. Participate in special projects and compile a variety of special reports. Maintain process documentation and institutional policies. Update as necessary for evolution of finance and finance related processes. Qualifications: Requires bachelor’s degree in accounting or CPA certification (preferred). Excellent communication skills and emotional intelligence. Minimum of 7 years of experience in progressively more responsible finance & accounting positions. Experience managing the accounting team of a mid-sized organization. Experience with high growth operations preferred. Experience with NetSuite is helpful. Public accounting experience at a regional or larger firm desired. Proficiency designing and creating advanced excel spreadsheets.
