Mission description
Summary: The Intern will assist the Engineering Team in supporting Test Equipment for the Sarasota Test Lab team. The Intern would be a part of the team responsible for the repair and development of test equipment to support product testing in our laboratory. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Follow written and verbal instructions on how the test will have to be performed. Possesses the ability to read schematics and wire circuits to meet the requirements Design, develop and validate new automated test equipment in order to improve the efficiency and quality of the tests that are currently performed in the OE test lab. Design and implement full automation of single operation processes. Leads continuous improvement culture by identifying and implementing projects that improve quality, cost, or throughput to manufacturing processes. Drives 5S culture by improving and maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and organization of the work area. Evaluates drawings, specifications, and other data to determine requirements for process improvements, requirements, and capital equipment purchases. Assists in development of production and testing procedures and equipment. Provides cost estimates to management on new or upgraded test equipment and coordinates the resources to build these.. Troubleshooting: the use of knowledge, tools, and analysis skills to solve problems in the areas of electronics, electromechanical products, test setups, and test equipment. Applicant will have the ability to troubleshoot moderately complex circuits to the component level. Applicant will be able to read electrical schematics and have the ability to extract required information for test and troubleshooting. Applicant will be able to read and understand mechanical drawings for test and fixtures. Computer Applications: the ability to use appropriate computer applications to facilitate testing, documentation, and project management methods. Applicant will be able to use Microsoft Office as required. Assists in other duties as assigned by Manager Assist in 5S and Lean activities as required Work within and contribute to a safety culture. Regular, predictable attendance is required. Must be willing to work overtime as necessary.Physical Demands: Stationary 40% / Mobility 60% (up to 25 lbs) Work Environment: Equal split between office work and working on test equipment.
Education and/or Experience: Student pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree (or international equivalent) in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, and/or other similar engineering degrees. Minimum Qualifications: Must have the ability to place and mount internal components with minimal assistance. This will include labeling of wires and components. Must have the ability to wire circuits using different wires sizes, terminal lugs, crimp contacts,
The position requires a understanding of basic electrical theory. Understanding Ohms law and basic component function is important. (E.g. resistor inductor etc.) The ability to select and use appropriate test measurement equipment, data acquisition devices, loads, computer hardware, and lab power equipment when testing product functionality Must have the ability to troubleshoot and correct problems. Must have the ability to read Electrical drawings. The ability to develop logical and analytical approaches to solving problems encountered in ATE Development. Applicant will be able to use Microsoft Office as required. Applicant will be willing to learn new applications as required. Applicant will be able to analyze and find out solution to improve on an efficiency / quality standpoint the procedure that are currently used in the OE Test Lab. Writing capability, troubleshooting, and programming of LabVIEW Ability to read/understand prints, routings, bill of materials, and process sheets. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills or other data processing program to analyze, trend, and drive actions based on data. Preferred Qualifications: Engineering experience in a testing environment.. Automation/Robotic Implementation Experience Project management experience. Knowledge of Autocad Electrical Knowledge of electronic/electrical specifications and standards (commercial and military). Knowledge or certification in IPC standards (J-STD-001 and IPC-610).
