We are seeking a motivated Civil Project Manager to play a key role in the hands-on planning, design, and execution of educational, sports, and other land/site development engineering projects. The Civil Project Manager will be the main point of contact in the day-to-day interaction with the Client’s designated representative and has the ultimate responsibility for both the quality and effective execution of engineering projects including grading, drainage systems, water distribution and supply systems, wastewater collection systems, and roadways.
Key Responsibilities:
The Civil Project Manager will work with the Firm’s management on various aspects of assigned projects, including the following.
• Site Evaluation: Conduct site visits and help prepare reports, documenting site conditions and potential challenges related to athletic, educational, and other site development facilities. Research and preparation of feasibility documents. Prepares estimates for engineering work.
• Collaboration: Attend meetings with the Client for project review and coordination. Ensures effective communication and coordination on assigned projects between all disciplines and all other project consultants. Work alongside other engineers, architects, landscape architects, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure alignment between civil engineering designs and architectural goals, specifically tailored to sports and educational environments.
• Regulatory Research: Research local, state, and federal codes and regulations relevant to the project, including the different levels of athletic facilities. Monitors work for compliance with applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, standards, and design criteria.
• Engineered Design: Collaborate with the civil and architectural teams in designing site plans, utilities, drainage, and grading solutions.
• CAD Drafting: Work with CAD and junior engineering staff to prepare, modify and update design drawings using AutoCAD or other relevant design software. Aid in developing civil engineering plans, including sports field layouts, stormwater management systems, transportation access, and utility layouts.
• Technical Support: Management, preparation, and coordination of all technical designs of multiple projects. Prepare/review engineering-related calculations and specifications. Perform/review drainage system design and calculations including stormwater management systems and storm sewer sizing. Perform/review water distribution and sanitary sewer collection system design and calculations.
• Documentation and Reports: Prepare/review technical documentation, reports, and presentation materials.
• Project Support: Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates assigned engineering work. Preparation of weekly project status reports for assigned projects. Provide support to the engineering team, including assisting with cost estimates, timelines, and coordination of project tasks. Provides guidance and continuously educate team members on standards and changes within client or scope of work. Proactively work with the appropriate authorities having jurisdiction to obtain plan approval and permits.
• Sustainability Focus: Participate in projects aimed at creating environmentally responsible and energy-efficient facilities.
• Construction Administration Support: Attend OAC meetings. Provide review of submittals and answer Contractor’s RFIs. Perform periodic site observations during construction and prepare site observation reports. Assist owner and architect in reviewing contractor pay-apps. Prepare certifications and project close-out documents.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field required.
• Applicants for this position are expected to have 5-10 years of experience since graduation working in the A/E/C industry. Previous full-time experience related to land/site development design in Florida is a plus but not required.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the state of Florida required.
• Highly proficient with AutoCAD drafting skills, with a working knowledge of Civil 3D.
• Highly proficient with design software such as StormWise, StormCAD, WaterCAD, and other industry-related software.
• Highly proficient with MS Office suite.
• Strong interest in designing and improving athletic and educational facilities.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with coworkers, owners, and public agency officials.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong familiarity of land development codes, environmental regulations, and construction processes.
