Job Summary:
The [Loan] Portfolio Manager is responsible for the performance, quality, and oversight of a loan portfolio focused on home improvement financing. This role ensures the loan portfolio remains within delinquency parameters while delivering strong customer outcomes and maintaining compliance with regulatory and partner requirements. The manager collaborates closely with internal stakeholders, risk analysts, compliance teams, and customer service operations to optimize loan performance, reduce delinquencies, and support strategic growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Portfolio Oversight : Monitor and analyze performance metrics such as delinquency rates, charge-offs, repayment trends, ach penetration, and loan seasoning across the home improvement loan portfolio.
Risk Management : Identify emerging risks, borrower behavior patterns, and portfolio concentrations; take proactive measures to mitigate potential losses. Loan Performance Analysis : Conduct regular reviews of loan cohorts, credit score distribution, approval rates, and loss curves to
support credit policy adjustments.
Reporting & Compliance: Prepare detailed portfolio reports for internal stakeholders and external regulators. Ensure compliance with applicable laws such as TILA, ECOA, FCRA, MLA,
SCRA, and UDAAP.
Loss Mitigation: Work with a loan servicing vendor (s) to track and reduce delinquency and default rates. Routinely review collection strategies such as right party contacts, broken promise rates, and electronic payment conversion success.
Complaint Management: Monitor, analyze and prepare reports ensuring potential compliance concerns are addressed and appropriately escalated within regulatory time frames.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field. MBA or professional certifications (e.g., Credit Risk Certification (CRC) or Financial Risk Manager (FRM) are a plus.
Experience:
• 4+ years in consumer lending and loan servicing, including collection activity, preferably in installment loans.
• 4+years in Vendor Management experience, preferably working with 3 rd party loan servicing vendors.
Technical Skills:
• Strong Excel and data analysis skills; experience with SQL, Tableau, or Power BI is a plus
• Knowledge of consumer credit bureaus, risk models, and scoring systems
• Familiarity with loan origination systems (LOS) and servicing platforms
