Mortgage Processing Manager
The M ortgage Processing Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the mortgage processing operations within United Community Bank’s mortgage division. This role ensures the consistent delivery of high-quality service by managing daily workflows, maintaining compliance with regulatory and internal standards, and driving team performance. The manager will be accountable for meeting service level agreements (SLAs), upholding client satisfaction, and ensuring the accurate and timely collection of all documentation required for underwriting and closing. Through proactive leadership, coaching, and collaboration, this individual will foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement within the processing team.
What You’ll Do
• Mortgage Product & Process Expertise:
• Develop and maintain a strong understanding of Mortgage Lending products, policies and processes for GSE, FHA, VA, USDA, DPA’s and portfolio products.
• Maintains a thorough knowledge of the Loan Origination System as well as all related systems and identifies and implements changes to worksheets and workflows within the system.
• Ensure all fair lending and compliance policies are followed for United and lending partners such as investors, mortgage insurance companies, GSE, FHA, VA, USDA, DPA’s and portfolio products.
• Team Leadership & Staff Management:
• Sets daily priorities for all processing staff, while maintaining compliance with regulatory guidance.
• Supervise staff to ensure team production goals are achieved and loans are closed within expected timelines and regulatory parameters.
• Coordinate activities for staff to ensure team members are fully utilized.
• Provide ongoing direction, training, coaching and mentoring to team members to mitigate risks within department.
• Recruit, develop and retain high-performing team members to ensure ongoing success in meeting department goals and necessary succession planning objectives.
• Effectively manage all applicable team matters associated with Human Resources, including but not limited to performance evaluations, execution and support of company goals, creed, mission and values.
• Organize and conduct regular meetings and training.
• Compliance, Risk & Quality Control:
• Ensure compliance with state and federal legal and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain quality control scores for gross and net defects within defined limits. Respond to QC defects and implement corrective actions within the process and coach performance.
• Ensure that processes adhere to appropriate risk management policies.
• Operational Oversight & Process Improvement:
• Responsible for organizing and maintaining pipeline reviews with Group Leader and other OPS Leaders to ensure we are meeting/exceeding borrower expectations.
• Create and maintain business processes that promote a culture of excellence for our clients, as well as teammate accountability.
• Assist in tracking and/or facilitation of process improvements to achieve higher results on an ongoing basis.
• Assist with administering department strategies and budget.
• Client & Stakeholder Relationship Management:
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external clients/business partners and vendors.
• Directly resolve or coordinate the resolution of client service-related problems on behalf of internal and external clients to ensure SLA standards are achieved.
• Resolve escalations on individual loans on a daily basis.
Required For Success
• A minimum of 5 years of mortgage processing experience is required
• A minimum of 3 years of mortgage processing management experience is required
• Proficient with Agency, FHA, VA, USDA Construction to Perm, Conventional, DPA, Wealth, and Portfolio guidelines
• Strong knowledge of bank operations, systems, compliance and regulatory issues
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong organization skills
• Ability to manage and monitor the performance of others and provide constructive feedback.
