General Description Under the immediate supervision of the Utility Planning and Development Engineer, to operate equipment or manually gather water, electric, steam and gas consumption records at specified schedules. Take part in assigned monthly disconnect activities. Coordinate metering work with Water, Electric, Steam and Gas Department personnel.
Work Schedule Overview:
This position follows a consistent weekday schedule, primarily Monday through Friday, with some built-in flexibility. Hours will range from 10 to 25 per week, and the schedule will generally be known in advance.
• Meter Reading: 8 hours, scheduled on the 1st of each month
• Skipped and Missed Meter Reads: 6 hours, scheduled on the 2nd of each month
• Shut Offs: 8-hour shifts, scheduled three times per month
• Work Orders: Typically 2 hours per day on days without meter reads or shut offs
• Handouts: Up to one 4-hour shift per month
• Flex Day Off: Option to take either Monday or Friday off each week

Essential Functions of the Job / Knowledge, Skills and Abilities ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
• Adheres to assigned meter gathering schedule(s).
• Performs assigned notification and utility disconnection procedures.
• Seeks out and resolves utility service problems. Promptly reports problems to appropriate supervisory personnel.
• Acquires readings on assigned service orders. Maintains and updates assigned records.
• Assists in optimizing data gathering operations.
• Maintains accurate records of activities and equipment as assigned.
• Coordinates functions with Administrative, IT, Water, Electric and Gas Department personnel.
• Performs duties in varying weather extremes.
• Attends\completes assigned training.
• Performs duties while walking on varying terrains and surface conditions.
• Performs duties using vision to accurately read and enter data.
• Attends assigned training and demonstrates competencies in work tasks.
• Disconnects electrical meters following recommended safety procedures.
• Works overtime as assigned.
• Performs as assigned during system restoration and other incidents.
• Works in other departments when assigned.

Education and Experience Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent as well as a valid driver’s license. Two years of related customer service work experience.
