Instructs and supervises preschool children in activities that include literacy, mathematical thinking, physical/motor development, creativity, and independence and self-care. Interacts with children using hands-on activities, games, etc.  Uses the Project Approach philosophy to plan and instruct.2. Helps maintain a portfolio on each child for reference.  This information is used to determine appropriate instructional levels and to plan curricula and prepare materials for each child within the program.3. Teaches specific lessons weekly on Nutrition/Health and Nature Topics.4.  Completes observations on all of the children at the CDC throughout the year.5.   Maintains the general order and cleanliness of the facility and learning centers by cleaning the kitchen, picking up items, organizing shelves, helping to change out center materials, etc.6.   Monitors children within the facility and the playground to ensure safety.7.  Attends staff meetings twice a month and completes at least 15 hours of approved professional development training annually.8.   Maintains a valid teaching certificate.9.   Maintain active CPR and First Aid certification.10.   Assists with special events throughout the year, serving in whatever capacity needed.11.   Performs other duties as assigned.  May include, but not limited to:          * planning menus and preparing snacks for the children daily, according to a nutrition plan          * teaching mini-lessons related to nutrition and health topics          * creating, or assisting with, small group activities          * preparing materials for learning centers including cutting, copying, and compiling items.Relationships:Continuous contact with supervisor, co-workers and children to exchange information and to best communicate rules, practices or functions.Daily contact with parents to exchange information and explain rules, practices or functions.Responsibility for Final Decisions:Responsible for own work.  May assist or instruct others doing similar work.Tasks involve multiple procedures with interrelated processes or steps.  Work involves choosing the appropriate option or procedure to follow and applying established rules and procedures.Errors are readily detected in the normal course of work by standard check or crosscheck. Reports To:  CDC DirectorWork is performed independently on routine work; non-routine issues or questions are referred to the supervisor.Education/Skill Requirements:Bachelor’s Degree with 2-3 years of experience in early childhood setting.Certification in early childhood education as well as experience teaching young children required.Ability to understand and use developmentally appropriate activities and communication.Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively.Excellent communication skills.Interest in lifelong learning.Work Conditions:Work is performed in a school setting.Work requires:Staying on-site during workday.Planning outside of school time.Variable schedule between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday – Friday.Required Documents: Cover Letter and ResumeEducation Requirements:Bachelors: Early Childhood Education (Required)Certification Requirements:Job Posting End Date (if date is blank, posting is open ended):
