Engineering Manager: Construction Equipment Attachments
Join Great Plains Manufacturing as the new Engineering Manager for Construction Equipment Attachments. This position leads all product development activities for the design, validation, and life-cycle management of Construction Equipment Attachments. The Engineering Manager will develop the technical arm of New Product Introduction process led by the Product Strategy team. It is actively engaged in global attachment strategies and delivery of global solutions. This position reports to the leader of Product Development and Strategy.
This position will be Monday through Thursday 6:00 am -4:30 pm (4-day workweek). Occasional overnight travel will be required during peak seasons.
Responsibilities
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Create and manage a product development strategy that aligns with the overall Construction Equipment (CE) Attachment product strategy in collaboration with Product Manager – CE Attachments.
• Develop team skills and capabilities to meet market and application skills needed to create solutions that are industry leading.
• Collaborate with Kubota and GPM leadership through status updates, strategic planning and product development reviews.
• Create and manage an annual budget that includes resources, materials, assets, testing & validation, contract support and associated travel.
• Provide technical representation and leadership for GPM at Construction Equipment technical conferences and events.
• Develop and manage New Product Development project planning schedules and budget.
• Lead strategic definition of products to ensure alignment with GPM Supply Chain objectives for manufacturing, preferred part/material, cost targets, and preferred suppliers.
• Direct, review, and approve product design and changes, and direct product testing.
• Direct and coordinate building of prototype product and associated validation plans.
• Analyze test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
• Confer with research and other engineering personnel and prepare design modifications as required.
• Plan, coordinate, and direct engineering projects, develop staff, and direct integration of technical activities with products.
• Analyze technology and resource needs; confer with management, production, and marketing teams to plan and assess feasibility of project.
• Manage personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, discharges, or disciplinary measures.
• Follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed safety and protective equipment.
• Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.
Preferred Skills And Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering through university or college; 7 years plus leadership experience with an engineering team. Product design and Construction Equipment experience preferred
• Excellent written/verbal communication and computer skills, i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, Windchill
• Solid understanding of technology and precision construction equipment attachments
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to safely troubleshoot/diagnose problems
• Strong understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems
• Willingness to travel out of state for multiple days during peak seasons
